Perks of the West Coast!

Must be nice to have that weather at this time of year. It is about negative 10C down here in London. I bet the crab is going to be delicious.

50 pounds of halibut fresh from the Douglas channel cut and ready to vacuum seal.
A gift from a friend for fixing his boat.

I can do without the crab, rather east coast hard shell lobster,,, but that Halibut looks great, 50 lbs is a good haul!

You guys are killing me. I was born and raised on the West Coast, I deckhanded on my Dad's commercial fish boat when I was a teenager. Now I'm on the prairies, "enjoying" our nice crisp winter days. I will say that everyplace in Canada has it's own beauty, you just have to unlock it.

Ha! That halibut looks awesome.

This year we had a good run of sockeye as well.

I've been getting emailed this picture quite a bit since the this post.

Figured I'd share

Nice pics. Now I'm craving seafood and beer.

Ever notice when someone puts West Coast in the title, you always, I mean ALWAYS, get people from Calgary in there trying to sell the prairies as Nirvana? ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love the west coast, but I don't think I could live out there year round..

Kokanee is made in Creston, B.C. A long ways from the coast =)

most of it gets exported to the east, no one in their right mind out west would be caught dead drinking it................

This kind of weather for this time of year is truly amazing. The only thing I'm missing right now is the skiing. Local hills are bare as can be this year, and that 5 hour drive to Big White is a little much!

Real west coast beer :)
