Petawawa Gun Club Presents.. The Sharpshooter Competition

No it isn't you he is talking about Jamie ...... you should have noticed that when I described that guy as "one heck of a good shot " ... LOL .

thanks lol.....are the match scores out yet? I have no idea how I did? I watched the vid of the run down too I think I did the run in 16 secs and missed all three shots lol

They will be out in a day or two....sylencer got off work and went right to bed today....the poor little muffin is tired . He has someone else working on it though.

Wow...what a great day of shooting. Had a great time...and learned a lot. Shot better than I could have ever imagined.

Yes, $20 is far too cheap. $60-$80 would have been appropriate. Hopefully this would negate people being a "no show", so that people that wanted to shoot, could shoot.

Thanks to all of the organizers...you put in a lot of hard work and it is much appreciated.

Special thanks to all the vendors that supplied gifts for the prize table... No one went home empty handed.

Can't wait for the next one...I would love to shoot this twice a year.

Next year would it be a good idea to have 1 day for a sports class and the next day for percision?

Sylencer mentioned he may change a couple things next year as it was along day alright. This year we had saturday scheduled for people to zero and get their D.O.P.E in order

First off, many thanks to Jaime and his team for all the hard work organizing this shoot. Also thanks to Morgan, Greg, and all the other volunteers that ensured the day went off well. Pretty big match for a first time effort, so you guys had to hit the ground running and did a great job. Also many thanks to the sponsors for all the cool swag. Their support of shooting supports is much appreciated by everyone involved.

Sorry dinsdale but the Sightron I was using on my AR came off a 260 that I, as Jamie and a few more, was not allowed to use. First time shooting my AR past 200yds and I wanted an optic that I knew I could count on to track correctly. The 6500 2.5-16 that was on the Savage 10PC I sold you went to my shooting buddy TomZ who had a great time shooting long range for the first time with it.

There is no way in hell that I was shooting 1/4 to 1/2 MOA with a 16" recce AR with a stock lower !! Maybe in that same InterWeb wet dream where all Savages shoot 1/4 MOA out of the box with Norinco ammo !! (Sorry Morgan ;-) ) There were more expensive ARs on the line, and more expensive glass on those ARs. I caught some quiet periods where the wind wasn't blowing too much and things came together. Maybe holding 1 MOA for most of the matches, but I didn't see my targets so I'm just going by what I was told by people in the butts.

Maybe a suggestion for next year would be to cap magnification on Sporting to 10X-12X. Not sure how easy that would be to enforce, but might be something to look into.

Again, great job to all involved in running the match. Looking forward to next year.

What a great shoot the boys from Petawawa put on! I will echo the comments made and say thank you to Jamie, Marshall, Greg and Derrick(sp?) as well as everyone else that gave their time and effort with scoring, cooking, organizing etc. I had a great time and judging by all the grins, so did everyone else.

I learned a ton this weekend. I even learned how to use "Mexican food for dinner" as a good windage indicator at the line!!( look left and right and dial based on how quick the reaction spread).

Speaking of Mexican, to the guys who joined me at Sante Fe in Pembroke, thank you for all the tips and knowledge you shared. I'm terrible with names, so please PM me if you are willing to let me pick your brains again!

rhs ....I total agree with everything you said..except the part about Norinco Ammo .. I made a believer out of Hungry

NO Patch For You !!

Anyone else still having nighmares from those "tack" and bug targets. ? Lol.

LOL , I shot one of the flys twice because I lost track of what I shot ... both hits were perfect and I couldn't tell I hit it ..oh ya 2 hits on the same one don't count for 2 hits ..

Great shoot guys. Had a fun weekend. If they are able to get the caliber restrictions lifted for next year you could fill 90 spots no prob, and charge 60. Looking forward to the results and next years shoot.

Chalkriver unless my eyes are deceiving me I don't see any holes on that target. the paper punch hole at the top centre where your thumb is, doesn't count. Lol

Considering what I thought the intent to be I think $20 was a fair price. I was under the impression a big part raison d'etre for this shoot was to attract new shooters to precision shooting. You probably won't attract much new blood if someone's sporting a Remington 700 is competing against people with $5000-$10'000 rifles and there's a crazy steep entry fee.

It's probably a pipe dream and ammo is now at a premium but maybe next year we could look into the local units donating some 5.56 ball and see if we can bring some C7s, C8s and light machineguns out to let people try out on full-auto. We might get some bites if we set something up where we charged a couple bucks to shoot them and the proceeds went to whatever charity. Maybe see if snipers could come out and do a famil shoot or display.
