First off, many thanks to Jaime and his team for all the hard work organizing this shoot. Also thanks to Morgan, Greg, and all the other volunteers that ensured the day went off well. Pretty big match for a first time effort, so you guys had to hit the ground running and did a great job. Also many thanks to the sponsors for all the cool swag. Their support of shooting supports is much appreciated by everyone involved.
Sorry dinsdale but the Sightron I was using on my AR came off a 260 that I, as Jamie and a few more, was not allowed to use. First time shooting my AR past 200yds and I wanted an optic that I knew I could count on to track correctly. The 6500 2.5-16 that was on the Savage 10PC I sold you went to my shooting buddy TomZ who had a great time shooting long range for the first time with it.
There is no way in hell that I was shooting 1/4 to 1/2 MOA with a 16" recce AR with a stock lower !! Maybe in that same InterWeb wet dream where all Savages shoot 1/4 MOA out of the box with Norinco ammo !! (Sorry Morgan ;-) ) There were more expensive ARs on the line, and more expensive glass on those ARs. I caught some quiet periods where the wind wasn't blowing too much and things came together. Maybe holding 1 MOA for most of the matches, but I didn't see my targets so I'm just going by what I was told by people in the butts.
Maybe a suggestion for next year would be to cap magnification on Sporting to 10X-12X. Not sure how easy that would be to enforce, but might be something to look into.
Again, great job to all involved in running the match. Looking forward to next year.
