The rifle is patent pending and should be a game changer in the shooting world.

This rifle should class as NON- RESTRICTED as well!!!!!! :)

From PGWDTI: "Introducing the patent pending PGWDTI DIREWOLF 338 Lapua semi-automatic rifle system. A game changing new design and not simply a scaled up AR with long range performance that rivals bolt actions along with the sustained fire ability of a 10 round magazine.

Available shortly for Military and Law Enforcement and export to civilian users in jurisdictions where it is legal to own.

We are awaiting further classification work by the RCMP in the 5 round configuration to determine status of future purchases by Canadian civilian shooters."

Please email rs@pgwdti.com for further information

The goal was accuracy. There are four main areas that deviated from the standard AR design to achieve that goal, and collectively it worked. We can take a Timberwolf, test fire it and baseline the accuracy of that particular barrel, torque on a barrel extension, drill a gas port and put it on the Direwolf and shoot the same size groups. Getting two rounds in the air before the first one hits at distances of 800 and further is easy.

That is absolutely insane! Great job PGW. I wish you guys all the best and great success with this. Was this done for a contract or was it something that was thought up internally?

Thank you. I was having trouble sleeping one night and this came about.

No it doesn't have push pins and yes you need to take screws out to strip it. It's not big task to clean, but it is a specialized rifle for properly trained people. Sacrifices had to be made to keep the accuracy in it. The .338 Lapua is a big, brutal round and to tame it in an autoloader isn't for the faint of heart. The rewards and capability far outweigh the trade offs, and those that feel that this is the ticket for a particular job will not worry about that. Mow down a bunch of distant steel with it while delivering 1500 foot pounds on target waaaaay out there and you will see what I mean.

Seems like a very niche product. Not something that would replace any of my bolt rifles, but I'm sure there's some agencies that have some niche roles for these rifles.

Good on PGW for coming up with something new, I'm sure that was a lot of work. But I don't see anything "game changing" about this rifle.

I would think a semi-auto DMR type rifle between 7.62 and .50cal caliber would change the game somewhat for the application it was designed for............ ;)

Accuracy in such a hard hitting semi platform is what this has achieved as far as game changing. I needed to freshen up the .338 Lapua over the Timberwolf that has been around since 2001. What helped a lot is the fact it has an amazing IBI barrel on it!!

What is it designed for?

Most long range and ELR applications don't require nor need or benefit from a semi-auto platforms, and in a lot of cases its a hindrance. Distance gives you time and opportunity, which doesn't necessitate the need for rapid engagement or follow up shots. I'm sure there are some special niche roles that this could be beneficial, like some hard target interdiction roles that agencies such as the coast guard could employ.

For 99.5% of us on CGN, this isn't a game changer.

It wasn't designed for civilian shooters, it was designed for military use.

That's what I figured and that makes sense. Not knocking the product at all. The OP came on a forum full of civilian shooters saying it was a "game changer".

Hope you guys do well and sell a lot to the .gov agencies that could use this product.

If you read the my entire post, you would see PGWDTI mentions Military and Law Enforcement as the main application.
The rifle "may" see civilian release at some point in the future, and would probably be Non-Restricted if released to the civilian market.

Quote PGW Steve's response:

What do we have here......... ;)

But hey, you always are the naysayer unless it concerns certain businesses and products that you seem to love.......... ;) Have a nice evening. :)

PGWDTI mentioned "Game Changing Design" in their press release.......so it wasn't me that came up with that......Nice try....lol

PGW Steve, Congrats on your new baby... I am sure there are a number of end users who would be very interested in this project

Accuracy with high rates of fire... who the heck would ever need that????

some guys just make me laugh.
