PGWDTI - .338 Lapua Semi Auto .......The DIREWOLF!!!!

I'd like to suggest that pgw look into calibers 762x54, .30-06, .300wm for this. There is currently no real modern 762x54 gas guns on the canadian market. .338 lm is an excellent cartridge that the caf should really double down on considering it's one of the only modern calibers that can effectively deal with level 4 armor, but the rest of the market in canada probably won't be looking for a rifle that spits out 10 dollar bills per trigger pull. I mean, 762x54 is an untapped market right now. Offering a semi in it, would corner that market immediately.

I would also like to make a second suggestion. Make sure to cut weight on every opportunity. That direwolf looks direly heavy. Aim for under 9 lbs without optics/bipods. I've picked up a dragonov and it's incredibly light. If someone else decided to be a competitor against your product, a customer will likely factor in weight in any side by side comparison which could be a deal breaker.

my 2 cents.

Why? There is no market for civilian sales other than as a side revenue stream. If this rifle wasn't designed for military sales/use then there would be no point in making it. Also 7.62x54 is just the Russian 30-06 which really the 308 also covers. Now add in the rise of the 6.5 CM which makes the 7.62x54 even more obsolete. If that's what one is looking for then just buy a Stag 10 and do up an upper. Everything up to and including 300 WM is covered by the AR10.

What we don't have is a precision semi auto 338 LM and 50 BMG. There is a definite niche in the military and potentially police market for this. If it works out, this could eventually lead to the replacement of bolt actions in those much larger calibres, much like how the AR10/AR308 had done to the 308 bolt action.

Want to shoot an outdated rimmed cartridge with marginal accuracy in a semi auto? Go buy an SVT. You are missing the whole point of this rifle. Thanks for the laugh though.

They have already said they aren't interested in doing it in 308 or 300WM, so why would they do it in anything else that falls between those two extremely popular cartridges?

You're saying there's a 300 WM AR 10 in the NR role right now? Maybe I'm out of touch, but I believe you are incorrect. The closest the market has are BAR longtracs or R1s which are not AR 10s. There is however a 338 LM semi auto is on the market. The Alexander Arms Ulfbert is available for order. The Serbu BFG50a is also available which is a 50.

Sorry was having a less than stellar day. Read my response and it was far more blunt/severe than deserved. I’ve edited this post for the above reasons.

Bottom line this is geared for military sales first with civilian as a side if possible. Non restricted isn’t a factor for the use. The rifles I mentioned may or not be non restricted. Keep in mind AR10 rifles being non restricted has been a fairly recent thing.

Sorry for the original harsh response.

Falkor petra is non restricted.

I wouldn't consider the serbu accurate

I’m a big fan of PGWDTI and I’m sure there is some niche market for a .338 Lapua Semi Auto but I cant think what it is... who can’t run the bolt just as fast as would be required at this power and distances? Is this just for people who suck? Asking for a friend ;)

It was designed for primarily Military and LEO applications............ ;)

The Barrett M107 and its variants have been around for 35 + years? It's been used as anti material and anti personel . Ask the snipers deploying said weapon if they suck and I am sure you will get a prompt response. The .338 would be just as capable in that role.

Lot different when the targets are shooting back at you...

Distance creates time and opportunity, as one former Marine scout sniper always says.

There's a place for both semi-auto and bolt sniper rifles, I don't think you are going to see this rifle replacing a lot of bolt guns. Bolt guns will still be very relevant and prevalent in the .gov world.

Semi auto 308's have replaced a lot of bolt guns already in the gov world
