Are there really wild pheasants here? If so where and if not are there any good preserves in the ottawa-kingston-lanark are? And what are the usual prices for say 5 hunters? And are other birds such as chukar or Huns an option?

i've never seen a "wild" pheasnt around here. Seen a few that were releases and lived that summer(probably died that winter) My brother keeps telling me he sees female ones all the time. Pretty sure they are ruffed grouse and not a pheasent. Can't tell him that though :S

most likely grouse yeah. quite a few down in Perth where my cottage is.

There are apparently some wild pheasant in Southwestern Ontario down around Chatham and Windsor but I've never seen one.

Elsewhere pheasants found in the wild are released birds that escaped. Our club holds pheasant shoots and some do get away including the hen that wandered out from behind the 25 yard berm while I was pistol shooting.

I didn't. But I sure thought about it. ;)

I saw pheasants all the time as a kid in Scarborough. When we saw them early in the morn, we used to run out of the house and chase them. Never caught up though.LOL

We never had any in our area until a pheasant farm appeared. The pen has about 200 birds and we get the left overs that make it off the farm.

seen few, one in toronto, or rather north of, in a park in Vaughan, few years back before it got overdeveloped, also by hwy 6 and safari road area, there was a one that fricked me out, I went into bush to take a piss, just to discover a bird few feet oway staring at me, it was all white, Im pretty sure it was a phesant

They used to be really common in Essex County 40 years ago when I grew up there. We would see 30 or 40 at a time in the soybean fields next door to the public school that I attended. Even today, it's not unusual to see one in the ditches and fields around the Point Pelee area, the area referred to as the "onion fields".

Near Toronto, I have seen them once or twice in that park off of Scarlett Road (Scarlett Woods?), and it's not hard to find them on Halls Road in Pickering. It's a well-known birdwatching area, and they report pheasants there a lot.
