pic of an AR from the range today...

I see that the fellow with the reversed optics also never learned how to close the charging handle after locking open.

Oh well, we have to ASSUME that he shoots safely... At least under supervision. He is really, one of "us", rather than one of "them", no matter how misguided.

We gotta stick together to beat back the lieberal sheeple!

Bingo, Paulinski wins the prize (only it's not my AR)! I didn't have the heart to tell the guy, he was having so much fun shooting it. He was wearing lvl2A body armour too... :p:D

its a good thing you didnt say anything, by the sounds of the body armour and the backwards scope he may have been a mall-ninja. you might have saved yourself a kung-foo karate chop for offending him.

Meh! Did you ask the guy why his scope was on backwards?

No offense BC Guy, but I gotta say, how do you know he wasn't in a hurry to go and mistakenly put the optic on backwards in a hurry. For someone who owns an AR, I'm pretty sure he would have noticed something's not right as soon as he went to flip up the lens cap.

It's kinda bordering on bashing on assumption alone. :kickInTheNuts:

The charging handle being open, well maybe that's the guy's way of knowing the action is locked open... or maybe he didn't give a s**te either way.

... that looks like a Stag lower. I think I see horns there somewhere, :D or maybe I got Stag on my mind as I just bought one. He has a good sense for quality guns anyway.

Who's bashing on assumption here buddy? As Far as him noticing something's not right as soon as he flipped the cap, I already said I watched him shooting it.

It's kinda bordering on not being able to read :kickInTheNuts:

The range was busy as s**t actually, I had to wait about 30 minutes just to get a lane, and so had nothing to do but watch, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with a picture.

Owning an AR doesn't mean you know what you're doing. Are you another guy who just turned his scope around? :p

Piss off bud. :D I'm just sticking up for one of owr own, like I probably would for you. Don't need to attack me for it.

You're ridiculing the guy, plain and simple.

I can't help but look at the rifle a little past the scope and cocking handle.

It has a collapsing/telescopic stock (similar to the C-8) and less than what I would call full length handguards on it. We cannot see how much past the front sight mount (Named...?) the barrel extends so we can only guess (or if BC Guy could let us know about how long it was..). I'm looking at the fire selection switch as well. It seems to ahve a 3 position switch (based on the current position of the switch and that it has a position stop protursion on the lower reciever to the front and back of the switch).

So, how long is this rifle overall (best guess) and is there a minimum overall length for it? Are we looking at a picture of a rifle that has been modified from a restricted firearm into a prohibited firearm? (seriously, I have no idea as to if there is a minimum overall length for a rifle...all mine are factory...even if they left it over 100 years ago). I've read the CFC website and the sections of the criminal code that pertain until my eyes crossed but not found it.

Anyone help me out?

Am I just a little too paranoid about my favourite prefered hobby?

The rifle is already classed as restricted. There's no minimum OAL on ARs, or any other restricted long gun. It can be as short as you like. Now handguns are different with barrels at 105mm or less.

all AR15 selector switches are made that way. a telescoping stock doesnt make it a C8. When having the bolt held back the safety cannot be put into position, and the charging handle is just hanging there because the guy probably wanted others to know the gun is empty/chamber open.

PERSONALLY, I would ridicule the guy for buying an AR rather than a real rifle, but, I guess, to each their own...

;)

I pulled the charging handle right out the back of a C7 once.... And I AM a toothpick (Okay: a toothpick with a beer belly, now!). THAT's why I wouldn't leave it hanging open, especially on a busy range where the Fudds "accidentally" kick things over once in a while... liable to break that cheesy little bit of aluminum right off, after the handguards break, when it hits the concrete.

Of course, that is only MY experience, and yours may vary...

:)

We ARE all brothers (and sisters), even if you like mattel rifles, or (SHUDDER!), Norinco!!!

I have that exact case!

I bought it in 1988 with my ruger 10/22 which i still shoot. One of the buckles is broken though.

What do you see when you look through an aimpoint backwards anyways?[/QUOTE]

A reflection of an idiot?:D

Oh man that was good... JUST what I was thinking and then I see it.. Priceless... Just glad it wasnt my reflection.. It usually is....
