Holster.

I was directed to a Canadian manufacturer ( Solely Canadian ) and there are several options available depending on purpose as well as accessories - one of which is if it will have a tactical light. As Nice as they look what would be the purpose of have a tactical light on your pistol ? Are there competitions that require them ? Unless your part of the law enforcement I can't see the purpose but otherwise I'm not sure if I should choose it or not. Strictly for target shooting.

Some clubs will let you shoot at night, or in darker hours.

Some competitions can do night shoots rarely,

They look cool.

Why not?

Plus, It makes a handy counterweight to help minimize muzzle flip?

These are the 'holster mold' light choices :

Streamlight TLR1

Surefire X300

Surefire x300 Ultra

Surefire x300 Ultra-B

Surefire x400 Ultra
Inforce APL

Surefire X300 is what you want, IMO. Buy once, cry once. They're fantastic lights that will last forever.

I'm not a fan of the Inforce APL after seeing how sensitive they are and how easy it is to ND one.

Aside from the obvious illumination functionality, a light will help mitigate a bit of muzzle climb due to the added weight. A long enough light (like the X300) will also act as a stand off in the event you have a close retention shoot where something is right up against your barrel. A light poking out past the muzzle ensures that nothing can press the slide out of battery and cause your gun to not fire.

Fair warning, a holster designed to accommodate a tac light will not properly hold the pistol if you choose not to attach the light.

It's hit and miss. Tim at SolCan seems to make his retain around the light. I've used bladetech P226 and G17 holsters for X300's that held the gun just fine without.

But if you're going to run a light, then run the light. Get a holster made for it.

I wouldn't and don't run lights on my pistols. If the end of the world/zombie apocalypse comes at night time, I'm staying in bed.

There is really only 1 reason to own a light (maybe even laser) on a firearm..."home defense". It allows you to get a clear picture of your target at night and some even have a strobe function to blind the intruder.

That being said, handguns are not meant for "home defense" in Canada...

Great choice on the gun and the light, and SolCan is the way to go as well. I went with the TLR for mine...but nothing looks cooler on a pistol than a nice high lumen flashlight. Now for a shameless pic of my fave pistol...

I have the SOLCAN kydex holster for the P226+TLR1-HL; it holds the pistol just fine without the light. As for what use is the light? Well I've gotten used to just taking it out for the dogs at night, minus the pistol of course - that MF'er is BRIGHT LOL!

I mounted the x300ultra but noticed that the 3 number trigger lock by Axiom does not fit properly (not a big deal since it's very easy to strap on the light) but I did find a solution by placing the lock on an angle, is this ok ? It's very taught in this position.
