Picking up my BCL 102 in 6.5CR tomorrow!!!

What did it weigh prior to the barrel swap? That stock and scope appear to be pretty heavy and of course a bull barrel isn't going to help weight.

Is it a 20" barrel?

The stock BCL102 I have was 8.9 lbs before adding an optic. Let me grab a couple pics I took...

For now, I'm leaving mine 'stock'.

But I have considered going with a lightweight barrel AND doing something about the hand guard to reduce weight.

I'm going to guess you could shave a fair amount of weight off if you put your mind to it.

For now, LuckyLuc82 has proven you can swap in a new DPMS barrel & take the BCL102 to another sought after caliber.

The question now is: Should there be a friendly competition whereby BCL102 owners compare their rifles weights? Maybe so!

Cheers
Jay

Oh I like this idea, like it a lot! We can call it "The biggest Loser"

Yes, it's very much just a barrel swap boys and girls. DPMS barrel extension and your favourite barrel is all you need! Smith test fired it today and she's coming home tomorrow!!

Will post details when I have her. BCL hit this baby out of the ballpark!!

Thank-you very much for posting this up!
We have had several people inquire about doing a swap, but we were very hesitant about saying it may work, without us testing it out ourselves, so again, thanks for paving the way and posting up.

Thank you for offering a great deal on premium barrels and making taking a chance on this barrel simple!! I will tell eveyrone I know about you guys and your fast shipping!! Absolute pleasure to deal with!!

Range report! Love the barrel! Love the caliber, love my BCL now! This barrel is very much sub MOA out of the box. We had shots touching almost every time at 100 yards. Noticeable reduced recoil, absolute pleasure to shoot!! Zero feeding, ejecting, or gas issues. We will do an official accuracy test after 100 rounds or so.

I wouldn’t be ordering replacement barrels for the next batch until the guns are in people’s hands. Remember they tweaked the guns a bit due to suggestions etc and I’d hate to see people stuck with barrels they can’t use. I’m not saying this is the case but I wouldn’t chance it yet.

Ryan

I've held off on the pre-orders so far because I wanted to wait and see if aftermarket off the shelf barrels would work in the 102. Now that we have proof it can be done I want to get in on the next order BAD.

However I'm not liking the sound of what you are saying here. Why would they possibly change anything that would effect barrel compatibility? They would have to be out of their freaking mind. This rifle has the potential to take over the market in it's respective class (if it hasn't already) and if they do anything to take away from the ease of user customizability they must have s#it for brains.

I'm not completely impressed with this rifle and it's performance in factory configuration and the only thing that will get me to buy one is if I can easily swap parts and barrels out myself. Now that I've seen it can be done I'm definitely interested but I won't put money out when I hear statements like this.

Why have there been so few technical details released from the manufacturer and so much secrecy? Heck, from what I hear they don't even supply an owners manual? If you tell people what they are buying instead of making them figure it out for themselves I'm sure there would be more people like me willing to buy. A big selling feature of this type of rifle is that the user can make it their own.

Sorry for the rant but I won't buy if I don't even know what I'm getting.

I'm not blaming you Ryan for the lack of details. It sounds like they don't even tell you what they are selling you. I would like to buy one but when I hear things like this I'm going to have to hold off again until there is some clarification and confirmation.

Sorry for the thread hijack OP. You're rifle looks amazing and thanks for taking the initiative to do the swap. You'll be happy with the BA barrel. Looking forward to hearing more.

Is a high pressure bolt head recommended with the 6.5 conversion?

As if people need to guess on this ffs. Total agreement with above. Seriously....they can't tell us what fits and what doesn't. I have the first release so hopefully it works. As if 2 generations already anyway

I agree that it would be great marketing for them to publish their spec, afterall an AR type rifle is all about user innovation and customization. Publishing those spec would improve their sales. If they are worried about being copied as the reason why they are not doing this, well anyone with a set of calipers can measure their product and copy it.

But then again marketing, PR, not really their strong point.

But what do I know about marketing, I’m not ex special forces operator, I just have an mba, I clearly know nothing...
