Pics from Sylvester Rd Clean-up, Sep 21, 2013

I spent over an hour there, and I couldn't tell I had been there.

Same here. I figured I had my truck's long box, so I focused on getting the bigger stuff. I didn't want to risk getting a puncture, so I couldn't drive near the larger piles of debris. Lots of walking back and forth. Next time it will be 5 gallon buckets, a rake and shovel for all those shells and smaller stuff.
What a ####hole! I was there for 1 1/2 hours and barely made a dent. :( I wonder If I go there to clean up again, it will be like starting over. Lousy photo and the pool liner covered most of the haul.

See 'ya!

Kudos to you and the crew that made it happen. Its a shame that some people are so disrespectful and careless to not clean up their own SH!T, and ruin it for everyone...

Hopefully it stays that way...i know I was I had some local land around here that I could do some outdoor plinking and target shooting on.

Oh, I forgot to mention... Jan stopped almost every vehicle heading up the road, told them what we were doing, and asked them if they'd pick up some garbage if she gave them a garbage bag. Most said yes. And most DID collect a bag of trash, and tossed it in our bin on their way down! It was really great seeing that.

It's obvious that a metric ton of effort was put into this -- not only the actual cleaning, but the logistics to make it happen.
It's not too bad now... this is our 8th year of doing this; we have everyone's contact info, and they're used to hearing from us. :D

Smart.. now if everyone just did a little..

wth that doesnt look like a shooting spot more like a dump....hmm i know some spots like that as well but they are usually illegal dump zones or party spots.

Congrats on ur cleanup I am glad we just need 1 pickup to clean our spot of illegal dumps.

Great job on the cleanup, I will post this on the Landrover club website, I noted some of them complaining about the mess last time we were up there.

its great that you go to all this work for others. and sad that you have to.

if only people could respect their land just a little.
i'm not at sylvester very often, in fact i haven't been up there in well over a year now, but from my trips up there in the past i have gather 3 full five gallon pales of spent brass. which i keep forgetting to take to the scrapper.

Great job!

Its been many many years since I have been there,, but it looks like that is a lot further up the hill than the original gravel pit where most stopped to shoot? Have people left that area and are now going to other areas to make a mess? That used to be nice bush up there, with many deer and grouse opportunities. From what I see, that may have changed?

Thanks again for doing the clean up.

R.

Nice work!
Maybe you should leave the bin? :)
It probably wouldn't help though as Ive seen plenty of people litter even when garbage cans are nearby.
