They are pieces of crap....why spend money changing stocks .....they still shoot the same......better than a mini 14 but nothing to write home about..

Your just spending good money after bad.......you want a real black gun buy an AR

Shoot the SKS until it breaks and throw it out.......or sell it for parts..

Here is mine......Range guests do sime to smile when they shoot it though

we can understand you just fine.

heres my pic. the stock was completely painted and the finger groves was filled in with auto bondo. the mag is a duck-bill detachable mag, also a vented upper hand guard with a deflector attached. the bipod is attached to the bayo lug.

Exactly. The SKS is a second line troop gun. So why ruin its character?

Some are into collecting, and some are into shooting and hunting.

IMHO unless your body type is a Chinese or other Asian male from circa 1950, or happen to wear a 1950 Russian winter coat all the time, then the original stocks are way to short to shoot these properly...and I suspect this factor, and bad shooting form are the culprits when it comes to this carbines supposed accuracy issues.

Q: And what have we learned from the shot gunner world?
A: Stock fit is crucial for accuracy. :)

Do what you need to do to have fun with your rifle. :)

:D Well I had no intention of buying more than the nice one you sold me, but this one was offered to me a few weeks ago, and even though I really did not have the funds to buy it ( good thing I have venison in the freezer to eat) I could not say no since its in such great condition. So now I have two, with a lot of ammo and no time to shoot. I'm hoping to get out soon and kill some cans or something.

You think the SKS is crap but you recommend the AR? :slap: :D I'll take an SKS over an AR any day buddy.

You got some serious reading to do!

Start here, with the opinions of professional soldiers.

http://www.warrifles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36416

I'm not a professional soldier and as such my shooting is limited to approved ranges on mostly sunny and dry days...I need not worry about combat conditions and if my gun will work after being submerged in mud....I don't do that to my firearms but feel free to do it to yours.

Under the circumstances that most civilians shoot, a stock AR will outshoot the best SKS repeatedly...lets see how your SKS stacks up at 300m against an AR....or even 200m....

Tell that to the Czech army among many others that still use this cartridge very effectively at the ranges you mention.

Alright!

If what you're saying is that an AR is better than an SKS if you're comparing them on a sunny, dry day, where the environment is not combat like and we are shooting at paper, at a quarter of a kilometer away then I am not going to contest it.

But personally, seeing how we are comparing rifles created for military reasons, I would want to see my rifle do well in combat like scenarios and environments.

If punching paper from a bench rest is all you care about, there are better guns out there for cheaper and they will do that better than any AR.

Forgive me if I am raining on your parade but you started it.
