I have had one Fail to fire in my sks with chec surplus out of 2 full cases. Watched lots of AR not be able to make it through a days shooting without failures. This I think it is more to do with some home gunsmithing then the design because I have seen few failures to fire during two years competing with a C-7

As for accuarcy. If you load wolf in a match AR you will get 6 inch groups at 100 yards (box of truth) match ammo in a match AR .8 group is possible. Match 7.62 X 39 ammo does not exist. So who knows what a good sks with good bullet can do. I was on the cast bullet forum with a guy that has a sub MOA Yugo with his bullets of his design which is pretty decent for an semi carbine. Do I think a typical sks is more accurate then an AR well probably not. Ball ammo with a c-7 will typically shoot 2 MOA the US army standard for thier carbine is 3 MOA or better. I have shot 1 inch groupings with ball so it can happen, so do lightening strikes and shark attacks.

Typical accuracy with chec ball in my rifles is 3 - 4 MOA. So in Recap an AR with ball will do 2-3 minutes an sks will do 3-4 Minutes. So yes the the AR is typically more accurate but to 300 yards the size of grouping would be 6-9 inches for an AR and 9-12 inches for an SKS. I don't think that this is a very significant difference.

Beyond 300 I think they are both pretty useless. The sks because at 500 yards it will be flinging bullets in a two foot circle and the AR because the drop is difficult to compensate for with irons. (7 feet if I remember right) Sure a match rifle with a scope zeroed for the range could easily do it. Even with Irons I was able to do it but the figure 11 was not moving and I had wind flags to guide me.

do you think it will good to put this on my ?

nice looking SKS.

i havent used that type of a deflector before but you have to have a deflector when using a long scope cos SKS has a tendency to eject the casing close to up , once in awhile, which could wreck your scope.

Yup I've got one, the shell deflector is a simple clip-on type that goes over the rear sights, it does to the job satisfactory, but you may want to look at something that is a bit more permanent.

Your not raining on my parade....but who gives a flying phuck about how well a rifle does in combat.....as civilians all we see is how well it shoots when we are at the range.....and I only go when thw weather is nice...and there are cheaper rifles out there to punch paper with bit none in the same class as an AR

Alright!

If what you're saying is that an AR is better than an SKS if you're comparing them on a sunny, dry day, where the environment is not combat like and we are shooting at paper, at a quarter of a kilometer away then I am not going to contest it.

But personally, seeing how we are comparing rifles created for military reasons, I would want to see my rifle do well in combat like scenarios and environments.

If punching paper from a bench rest is all you care about, there are better guns out there for cheaper and they will do that better than any AR.

Forgive me if I am raining on your parade but you started it.

Ha HA...you want to pimp out a G6 with a set of rims....why....all you'll do is phuck up the steering geometry and wear out the tires...never mind a Ferrari...the G6 is not even a fake sports car.....its what soccer moms use to get groceries.......

its like you calling my pontiac G6 crap and not to bother buying new mag wheels cos it will still drive the sh*ts and if i want a real sport car i should be buying a ferrari , which cost 10x.

compare apple to apple and orange to orange.

actually , i dont want to pimp my ride, got no money.... i was just pointing out the fact you are comparing a $150 SKS to a $1500 AR, 10x the mooola.

I love the SKS, they do the job they were designed for and they do it for a great price.
I never understood the bickering back and forth about what firearm is best. As far as I'm concerned all firearms are designed to fire a projectile at high velocities and thats plenty reason to love them all.

Then may I ask, why did you buy a military style rifle and not a target rifle?
Cheap gun...cheap ammo...great for range guests to plink with and in a pinch it can do duty as a back up deer gun for the bush....60 yard shot max in the bush...and it can do that
