I think you will find it's an L42A1. Basically a Lee Enfield in 7.62 x 51. Not sure of the optic though.

I had posted the same info, then went back and saw it was a question regarding the LAST pic and not the squadie with the L42 in the Falklands. I just think it damn fine the LE action was still dropping targets into the 1990s. I also blew off the LAST pic as some reenactor wannabe, who really knows is anyones guess on that one.

This looks like a photo of a re-enactor.

Too old to be a WWII sniper/scout - look at his eyes - he looks to be ~50-55 years old.
The hessian is perfectly cut and his webbing looks in perfectly new shape.
The P14 he is carrying should be wearing an Aldis offset scope, but it appears to be sitting up too high off the receiver, so probably a reproduction.

Could be. I don’t know for sure.

Earlier there was a pic from a video game. Taken by a Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist in Afghanistan.

Just curious, what was the typical ammo load out for a Bren gunner? I presume squad mates would also carry mags but I’m curious how much ammo they actually carried. Those Brenda served as LMGs but the pictures topically show those pouches on the suspenders and to me it looks like they may fit 3 mags each … so maybe 200ish rounds?

50-60 year old reenactor "sniper" sporting the "thousand yard star".

One magazine on the gun, two in each utility pouch. So, 5x28 rounds. All the other members of the section carried magazines. The gunner was to use his magazines last. His No. 2 was to collect and supply magazines, getting them from the other members of the section as required.

Just carrying the 22 lb. Bren across his shoulder like that has my admiration.
