Picture of the day

Somehow I think that photo is staged for the folks at home.

No way that young fellow is going to be carrying that FN MAG around with a full belt and maybe a spare belt on a long walk in the Kichaka. That gun weighs over 35 pounds with a full belt.

Great general purpose machine gun though.

South Africa?
I knew a guy who said the farmers would pay troops in beer to clear the farms of packs of wandering baboons. He said it was night time carnage. It's just what he told me, the guy was an a$$hole and generally full of sh1t so he may have been making it up, or perhaps was borrowing truth from another units experiences? I don't really know.

This is from Rhodesia. We only hunted baboons in daylight (with FN's) Baboons were very hard on mealie mealie (corn) and tobacco plants.

The FN MAG isn't that big of gun. Both of those fellows would be lucky to tip the scales at 140 pound soaking wet. They aren't very tall either, but then the average Rhodesian wasn't very tall either.

The fellow behind him is carrying a shotgun.

Ah. He made it out like something out of Apocalypse Now. Flares, murdered Baboons in a trench...like I said, the SA guy was an as$hole.
