Picture of the day

Desert Fox- From what I am reading and researching (wow) this was a crazy man !

Yup, Makhno felt he had been treated badly by one Mennonite family he worked for in his youth, so for his revenge he decided to "re-Educate" those terrible "German Kulaks", by raping the women, killing the men, and pillaging the villages.

Thankfully my Grandfather, his sister, and the parents who adopted them, were able to eventually flee to a refugee camp in Germany, (which was funded by money from German Präsident Hindenburg's own personal money), and after a short stay, emigrate to Canada and start a Farm in Manitoba.

My Grandfather turns 95 tomorrow! God bless Canada!

Here's an interesting photo of a weapons collection depot in west germany just after WW2 - allied soldiers collecting and storing Nazi regime small arms for war reparations (i.e. redistribution to other allied countries), destruction and for limited issue to West German state or police forces.

I wish I had kept the photo I once had of similar depots in the Russian zone of occupation. No orderly pallets there - thousands of guns piled into unorganized heaps the size of small mountains, left out in the elements. These later became the RC K98k's we used to buy a few years ago :)

Now for some photos of the heydays of Springfield Sporters back in the early-1990's before the Gun registry and State Dept restrictions on firearms exports when you could easily order milsurps from the US with minimal difficulty.

As I recall, I bought my first Gew88 from them back in 1992 or so - it shipped right to my front door without any paperwork as the US considered it an uncontrolled antique and Canada Customs didn't open the parcel. I did have an FAC that I would have had to produce at the border had it been stopped and opened, but it wasn't... :)

Ok gunnutz ! New day new picture :) This is picture #2 of the series

Courtesy of smellie - " This is a small formal shot of Makhno as he was about the time of beginning his more famous exploits."

Ok guys New day New picture :) This came from a fellow gunnut (smellie thank you) this will be a 3 day picture series, as I have received 3 pictures.

courtesy of smellie - " pictures are of a couple of Makhnovshchina with Nagant revolvers.

"Makhnovchiks"? "Mackhnovshchina" was his campaign of terror I believe. Like "Yezhov" > "Yezhovshchina"

New day new picture :) This is the last picture of the series

courtesy of smellie- "This is a small group shot actually DURING his war for a Free Anarchist Ukraine. Father Makhno is in the middle, of course. The guy slightly behind and to the Right of the photo (Makhno's LEFT) is called Tchus and was one of Makhno's top lieutenants; he liked to dress up in about 4 revolvers and a dozen grenades: NOT the guy to slap on the back too hard!

 I think I just had a heart attack.

Hey gunnuts New day New picture :) So do you guys think the BAR would have been more manageable with a pistol grip ?? Do you think it would have served the war efforts better, aside from having too small of a magazine? What do you think? :)

That is one SERIOUS Cutts' Compensator!

FN built them with pistol grips.

So did Poland, I am told.

Makes sense to me; anything's better than an 18-pound shoulder-fired open-bolt 'rifle'.

Wow! Klunk that is a really nice piece :) That must be a spare barrel? How are they for barrel change ( time wise ) ?

Barrel changes quick once ya know how

the second barrel is an 8mm BESA barrel which runs fine in the ZB but does require a tap or 2 with the aforementioned soft hammer;)
