He should write a book.
I love hearing the old war stories from the Germans.
Both got bogged down in the Russian mud and were not great x-country machines. The concept of the bad azz 'dirt bike' had not yet been realized.

My Panzer Grenadier father-in-law had nothing but praise for the VW Kubelwagon. Why? Because when you needed it, it worked! When it was allowed to freeze up, they lit a helmet of fuel underneath the engine to warm up the oil and drove off. He said the Kubelwagon got him out of Stalingrad before the complete encirclement.

Recent Haka performed by NZ soldiers for their fallen comrades from Afghanistan. It made the rounds a couple years ago, so probably not new to people here.

A true Warrior's Farewell:

One expects that to terminate in the hearse being rolled over and burned, the funeral director being killed and eaten, and every village in a 20 mile radius razed to the ground.

Truly fearsome, the Maori. The Ghurkas seem rather mild in comparison, and we all know they ain't anything of the sort.

I'd love to know what they are saying ..... In a one man on one fight, I'd say Maoris 10 - Afghans 0

I watched one of the linked videos and some of the men and Officers looked non-Maori. I presume that would be a special honour ..... ?

If it was a choice between going up against the Ghurkas and going up against the Maori... I'd choose to strategically re-position rearwards, with undignified haste.

No-one really wants to be the guest of honour at a feed of Pakeha with Puha, even if there is Pineapple and Breadfruit as well.

The Pakeha just could be someone you know!

OTOH, nice PzKpfw III(N) Sd. Kfz 141/2! The heaviest-gunned version of the III, precursor to the St.G. III with the heavier L/43 and L/48 guns.

FWIW, I think the III with the L/60 5cm must be one of the iconic German tanks of all time.

I would say that it is a surrender of germans. the officer, looks like a Lt Col. is most likely returning a salute. I see that he is wearing his sidearm.

You'll notice the R.A.C. badge on his right sleeve.

My first thought was Benny Hill, I have to admit! ;)
