50s nostalgia, the Douglass D-558 II with a B47A

I wonder if those are Finns...helmet & uniform similar to German and Russian-purchased weapons.

If the photos were taken off German POWs there is no way to know where they came from.

Finns were my first inclination, but they look to be wearing the German standard reversible winter quilted Tunic and Pants, as well, the Mosin still sports its "dog collar" sling, and not the typical Finnish Sling, with appropriate sling hanger mods, etc.

Looks to be more that of a German with an expedient field pickup from when his rifle was lost/damaged/out of ammo? Hard to tell definitively with the photo quality anyway.

Not that a German sporting a Russian weapon is anything unusual, except they usually picked up the SVT40s, PPsH, or maybe a Mosin PU Sniper, instead of a standard M91/30... :)

I was unaware that the Finns bought Mosins from Russia. They captured warehouses full of them when they seceded and then captured thousands more during the Continuation War. They did purchase a bunch from other sources though including captured rifles from Germany. They used a lot of different firearms. Whatever they could get with ammunition. The Finns have a fascinating history. I haven't looked nearly hard enough at it.

A Marine Corps TBM-3 Avenger taxis by USAAF P-51 Mustangs on Iwo Jima in 1945

There used to be a large fleet of TBM Avengers at the Fredericton NB airport. They were used as spray planes for the budworm spray program. It was common to see them flying in formation with a trail of mist behind them on early summer days in the '70's.

If we're on a recce aircraft binge, I'm all for it. Let's get back to WW2-ish, though:

Take a P61, lop off a bunch of superstructure, put a huge-ass bubble canopy on it, insert gobs of cameras, and what do you get?
