Picture of the day

In as much as there are far more comments than pictures here should the title be 'Comments About Picture of the Day' ??

Hey man, that's DAD's job. :HR: Don't be usurping the powers of the DAD dude.

E. Herbert Norman, Canadian diplomat who helped MacArthur during the Occupation of Japan, committed suicide in 1957 Cairo Egypt. He did this because of the relentless witchhunt allegations. The case against him seemed to be very flimsy. In any case, he is no longer available for comment.

Svetlana looks like she is "plannink beeg trouble for moose and squirrel".

Anyhoo, pics. While Igor and Svetlana were doing their thing, Canadian airspace was being protected by the least-jet-looking-jet ever built, the CF-100 Canuck. Here's one in Belgian markings, just for something different. They had 53 of them.

Yes plan is to finish FM104 in post war livery. This particular aircraft went to Europe but was not used operationally. As we are the BC Aviation Museum post war livery is more appropriate for us and represents aircraft flown from Comox during the 50s and 60s. Every other Lancaster currently existing is in WW2 dark green/dark brown/black so it will be nice to have something different. Post war air and ground crew with post war Lancaster memories are volunteers at the museum and many more are still alive. There are some interesting stories including a George Cross award to a young man who rescued the pilot from a crashed and burning Lancaster at Comox. I believe he was 14 at the time. The George Cross is the civi equivalent of the VC

Sad news to read as the wartime paint looks head and shoulders better then the post war "airliner" scheme and zig zag device down the side. That and the Lancaster at Trenton is staying in the post war look.

CF100 with practice pods. 3 rockets per wing. It almost looks like they creamed a bird or something. (?)

I read the CF100 could carry 4000# of bombs. They were never fitted with hardpoimts in Canadian svc. If this is true I would love to see AVRO footage of the bombing trials with this type.

Those are not 3 per pod. That is a full load going off. around 24 rockets (FFAR) per pod.

Is the nose wheel down? I see something there.
