Rhodesia late 1970's 2 individuals posing with remains of a mine protected Landover after striking a land mine. (As an aside a BSAP Special Branch Officer had the world record at the time of hitting 3 landmines in one day in 3 different vehicles ~ North Eastern border).

I thought it looked suspiciously like a STEN Mk.III but why would she have one?

Hmm the 'grandmere' could more likely be a soldier as well as the figure behind him holding the infant. They could be wearing their gas capes and helmet covers?

So there could be as many as three Allied soldiers in this painting. On the extreme left you can see what looks like a hint of crowds of civilians fleeing the inferno. On the extreme right. . .

Nichols mostly painted war scenes that were seared into his memory.

The painting becomes more unsettling the longer you study it.

It is a scene from the apocalypse.

No visible markings on the fuselage and only a tail number on that Skyraider so "privately" owned. I didn't know Air America flew them.

The above pic is the only one I've seen of Air America's Skyraider.

That's not a Skyraider, it's a Trojan.

The three blade propellor isn't usual for the Trojan, but you're right.
