Maybe if you look here: http://smith-wessonforum.com/member...88-coke-bottle-stocks-1956-goncalo-alves.html
sure looks like it, now to get an expert to confirm, fyi S&W offered what collectors call coke bottle stocks for about ten years. They first appeared in 1956 on the NEW 44 Magnum and were phased out beginning in 1966. I think S&W was trying to standardize the type of stocks they made and the "standard" target stock introduced in the early 50s was more than adequate, so they dropped the coke bottle style in favor of it.

Also not all targets are Cokes but.......all Cokes are targets

The easiest way to confirm Cokes is to look at the LARGER checkered area.

Gorgeous. One of my dream guns is a Model 29 with a barrel just over the legal limit but that 5" looks just about right, actually. Might have to change my mind, haha. Love the look of the massive cylinders on the N-frames.

Sorry, no 27s, but I have this 29-3 with the barrel shortened to 5":

There is something "just right" about an N Frame with a 5" barrel.

Nota: the black color that seems to appear at the end of barrel is strictly an undesirable light effect
due to curving surface reflecting the environment of the photographer

Sigh. This thread makes me wonder what was wrong with me when I sold my 27. All I have now are pics of it.

I even found a really nice set of Goncalo Alves finger groove grips to replace those terrible laminated pieces. At least I still have them, just waiting for a pistol to put them on now.

Of all the guns I've sold over the years this is the one I want back. Not a great picture but this 5" 27-2 was in excellent condition and I've kicked myself in the ass ever since I let it go.
