Pierce Custom Titanium SA Receiver - FTR Project Rifle

i confirm as well that head space will be checked on the no-go. I also heard that they may restrict the neck o.d. as well. A 0.335 neck wont be allowed anymore. They are not fixed yet on those dimensions. Nothing regarding the throat. One just have to be wise enough to throat it long !

I dislike that flat milled in the bottom of that action.
How much of weight was saved? 1oz? That "relief" was milled where it is needed the most for action to stay rigid especially in target gun! In hunting rifle it wouldn't matter that much. The "designer" went for "the looks" and the hell with practicality....

The nice part is if there is a feature you do not like or that you want.. we can likely accomodate.

So far that bottom scallop has not slowed down the rifles winning in the US BUT if not desired, can be removed.

Is be curious to know if there is a noticeable accuracy gain with the pierce over the savages you have used for years or if there might be a more noticeable gain with an exceptional barrel?

the recess at the bottom at the action act as a recoil lug. Combine with a square tang, it is plenty enough.

An action that is properly set up, provides consistent ignition and control of the combustion pressure... That's it.

Feeding and ejection of the case is also important jobs.

Accuracy comes from barrels, bullets, bedding and proper load tuning.

We are offering the Pierce due to a continuing large demand for Rem 700 type actions built to competition standards, and not break the bank. Having seen these actions used on winning F class rifles AND shooting with the man behind the brand, I know that the products will serve our customers very well.

For a Rem 700 platform, certainly a great blend of features and pricing. Being able to offer a wide range of Titanium products is also a huge bonus.

The standard SA and LA fits in all Rem 700 footprint stocks.

Essentially, a Rem 700 with all the upgrades and accurising included out of the box... for less money then working over a Factory Rem to the same standards.

Just for clarity if the bolt closes on a no go (a 1.640) then the rifle is DQed from competition.

Update: Stock work pretty much all done. Now to seal, paint and add some colour to the barreled action. Bolt has smoothed up very nicely and runs slick. I have shot the rifle and it is going to be an accurate shooter.

Ejection of the cases are a little too energetic. Great for a hunting rifle but not so much for FTR... Try and chop the spring or just remove the ejector.

Project will get finished for spring 2015

Off to the US Nationals...

I just confirmed I will be ordering a long action receiver. Really looking forward to slowly gathering the parts for my next build.

I am planning to build what I would describe as a lighweight long range target/hunter hybrid.

I know you will enjoy the action.

308bar, Wood used is plywood.

PS in Wenatchee for the night then a long drive south tomorrow.

Very inspiring design, my next build will be similar to this, no barrel channel cut in the stock, long forearm only there to support the bipod. I got my hand on plywood column so the forearm will have a curve in it, should help with rigidity.

Jerry, few questions.

Is that a Pierce scope base on the action? Which MOA slope, and what height is it at the forward end and how far does it extend past the face of the action?

trying to do some scope height and stock fitment calculations.

Sorry for the hijack but I think I know where you are going with this. If you intend to drop it into an XLR chassis the front of the rail will have to get milled back to clear the handgaurd mount/ring.

:D yup, you know exactly where I am going with it. Also trying to calculate required ring height

Jerry's is a short action. I am not sure if the base I have coming with my pierce long action will extend past the face of the action.

The SA and LA are near clone dimensionally of the Rem 700 except it has a round rear receiver. The base likely extends forward but can easily be cut. They are usually 20MOA but you can order various options.

My action I have is not a Rem 700 spec receiver. It has a longer receiver tenon, square rear tang and a few tweaks catering to target shooting. It will not fit in a Rem 700 inletting
