Well, it is finished and just got it back from the Painter. Colour and dip was done by Liquidcustoms.ca. He did a very nice job of spraying an even finish and the pattern looks like it is floating over the colour. The tone of the dip was darker then I was expecting turning the wine red quite dark. But when the sun hit it, the colour and metallic comes through.

There was a lot of work to seal and build up the exterior coating to form the smooth base but once done, every bit as hard and smooth as a composite stock. And will take paint very nicely.

Really enjoying the new SVSS scope. Wow, the glass continues to impress and that side focus... so nice to use. Been out a couple of times shooting LR and the tracking has been bang on. Looking forward to shooting this in matches through the year.

Enjoy

Almost 300 rounds now Jerry. It is fantastic. That fine focus adjustment is what really seals the deal for me. Also, the "robustness" (is that even a word?) of the turret clicks. I went through the elevation range a few times in the field, and it was really nice to "feel" every click. I did shoot out to 1200m, and was making some great hits. Not all the time, mind you. But at 1k, it was every time into a 12" target. I do love that scope.

On a side note, I did lose my zero on my NXS when the turret loosened. But not bad considering that the rifle it sits on, had shot almost 1200 rounds. Now, I've got to re-zero it. Not a big deal, but the Sightron did really outperform the NF on that day.

Makes me smile...

nice to see you used Bobby at liquid customs you saw my 338 edge at Terry's shop, are you happy with the paint? Terry has an A 3-5 on the way for my next build I am doing a 7 LRM just waiting to get started good luck enjoy yourself ttys Jim.

Overall, I am very happy with the quality of the finished product vs the costs. And he is really nice to work with as he does try to understand and work with new ideas and techniques.

He is not a gun guy but learning fast on what we need and where "not to paint" :)

He will definitely get my next stock which I hope to get done this summer/fall. As a small shop, there are limitations to equipment and to the end product but I see alot of effort to get the best that can be done. And the product I have received is really quite nice... for the most part.

very nice looking I posted a couple pics of mine on one forum but they were not the best took them indoors with a flash, as for Liquid Customs I think the more people see his work the more people may get a way from ordering fully inletted stocks that come painted and have them dipped.

It definitely opens up a much wider palate of options for dressing up your stock.

I think the stock prep may be a stumbling block for some but companies like Liquidcustoms are more then happy to help there if willing to cover those costs.

That is where you will spend the money and what will make or break the end result. Paint is unforgiving to surface defects.

Scopes at this price point should be top notch in my opinion. It's really too bad that one place doesn't carry all the top contenders so a person could walk in and handle them before dropping that kind of coin.

Well, I am absolutely bumped... I made weight in FTR with the SVSS, EGW OPS 34mm rings (which are the same weight as the Burris Sig ZEE rings I normally use), and some Burris 1/2" spacers.

8.17KG with the option to drop a couple of ounces if needed - Yes, I have weighed on a couple of scales that have also matched the local post office. I think I am good. (Max weight for FTR is 8.25KG). I am almost 3oz under weight

EGW only had the shorter version - very impressed with the quality of manf and workmanship. For an Alum ring, these snugged up very well and I am sure will hold the SVSS well. There were no issues with fitment and the scope fit perfectly in the rings without any need for lapping. There are plenty of really nice features on these rings and look like they can support a small bridge.

Each pair is matched produced and serial numbered. The cap and base of each ring is indexed mark so you can assure that each ring can be assembled with the precision it was manufactured with. There is a big lug that fits very nicely into a picatiny slot. These rings are not going anywhere and should reinstall precisely. I will be testing these as removing a scope for travel would be a huge aid especially if they go back on with min loss of zero.

Yes, I will be flying with my rifle alot over the next few years heading towards the WORLDS in 2017 in Ottawa.

One of the nicest features is the spring loading of the side clamp. They open straight making release and mounting a joy with very precise fitment to the rail. The clamp angles match the rail made by Pierce with near perfection. These are all really small points but all rings in the 34mm class are expensive. The QC and added features make these some of the best value I have handled.

And they are LIGHT... at 5.8oz.

I will be selling more EGW stuff as the supply catches up to my orders. With them making my MPOD, I am happy to get their products again into Canada. Anything is possible - someday the website will get updated. Will work to offer them at the best prices in Canada.... :)

The QC and build quality of their products have always impressed me and look forward to offering lots of their wares.

Why the spacer? I really like my scope to sit very tall on my rifle. With glasses, I find it really important to keep my head as vertical as possible for the best image possible.

Testing at 250yds shows this combo will hammer the V bull... testing at 840yds was very positive as well. Now it is just up to the driver to figure what the winds are doing and make the rifle look good.
