Pietta Remington 1858 Army

So why not buy one from MarStar, getting what you want and making life simple?

BTW- my .44 Remington .44s all have octagonal barrels, not hexagonal. There is a difference .....

I have one for Sale Pietta 44 cal 1858 Excellent shape only shot it one day $350 if you are interested Darren I have it listed on CGN under

I had a consecutive pair of Taylor's '58 Remingtons in 44-40. Very nice guns. The frames were slightly larger than those of my cap & ball Remington .44s. to the point where they were a very tight fit in my 'Slim Jim' holsters.

They also have another flaw insofar as SASS is concerned. There is an edge around the rear of the cylinder that prevents you from seeing brass rds chambered. I had a machinist cut notches at each chamber so I could see which were loaded. This is a historically correct modification. Otherwise, to prove your gun at the loading table with an empty chamber under the hammer, you had to insert a wooden rod down the barrel, which means you are putting your hand in front of a loaded gun.

Of course, if you are not a CAS shooter, this couldn't matter less.

I'd recommend buying a standard .44 cap & ball gun and getting the extra .45 Colt cylinder so you have the best of both worlds.

IIRC, I got them from Epps, one week apart, and got two consecutively numbered guns! Amazing.

They were big guns for me as I shoot Duelist with one paw. The guy that bought them is a two paw shooter.

Honestly buy a pedersoli or Ruger and save the headache.

I had a Uberti, it was fantastic looking and full of problems "Timing completely out, rifling stripped after 30rds and nipples were junk"

I still have to fix my short arbor on my 1860 and corrected my 50% misfires rate with Slixshot nipples. BTW Slixshot nipple with REM #10 is 100% reliable every time :)
