So, Herself half-jokingly told me a few days ago that if I got her a pink rifle, she'd come hunting.

I'm thinking I just might test that. Of course, if I end up doing this, I 'll look for something really affordable...

I guess a .22 would be a good way to start her out. Anyone got a fave pink bolt or semi?

Oh: She's a lefty. I imagine that finding an affordable, pink lefty rifle'd be tough as hell.

Though, she plays guitar right-handed, so maybe... I'm going to get her to shoulder mine somehow to see how comfy she is.

Anyway, nothing's sure, but if I can find something interesting for a few hundred bucks, I just might see how serious she was.

Get a cheap lefty, and some Pink Krylon...

+1

I was thinking a Stevens 200 with some pink Krylon. Yeah, I know they don't come in lefties but maybe she could work with it. If it doesn't work out you can repaint the stock & flog the rifle on the EE....

Say NO to the Pink!!!! I'm female and I HATE pink particularly when associated with anything I consider cool.

She may end up going hunting with you but you won't get anything because they'll see it coming a mile away!!

Sometimes a walk in the woods is just that, a walk in the woods.

I just picked up a Plinkster 802 from Mossberg and they come in pink.

The 802 is bolt, the 702 is semi-auto.

Very cheap rifle. Works well.

As always, it may pay to look around for the best price as I found them going from $139 to $299 (huge difference to me).

Good luck.

If they don't see my Blaze orange vest and hat, they won't see her pink rifle...;)

I suggested the pink paint, as the color can be changed the color if she doesn't like it...If my wife or daughter wanted pink, to go hunting/shooting, they'd be getting pink...

I just bought one of these: hxxp://www.savagearms.com/cub_pink.htm and haven't had time to take her out and see what she can do. A few friends have daughters who are about 5 years old so I figuere this would be a good way to introduce them to the sport!

Here's a few other pink ones:

I'm with you on pink. My approach to pink is that it's not so much a colour as it is an eye disease. Also, If I do this, I'm making sure that the pick gun's a .22, so that if she likes it, maybe I can get her interested in something less crass for the actual bush. And if she still doesn't like it, I'm not trying to sell a pinkified centrefire at a loss.

Using the .22 for hunting is a non-issue, as firing at a deer with anything less than a .243 in Québec is an excellent way to catch hell.

You did not say how old she is. I bought my son a thumbhole Savage Cub in .22LR. Great little rifle. Great trigger. Spoiled he is when I think of the old Cooey I learned on and the horrible trigger it had. The Cub's come in pink. Thumbhole or no. Right bolt only though. Great little rifle.

Good point. We're both... er, on the wrong side of 25, shall we say. She's fairly petite, though. About 5.4, I guess. You think that's junior model territory?

Thems fighting words. :D

My 12 year old cousin will be coming after you for that statement.

She won't leave the house unless she is wearing something pink. I just bought her a pink Crosman 760 Pumpmaster pellet gun for her birthday in August, and she went crazy over it.

Savage Arms has a pink .22 single shot bolt action.

Model T Cub Pink with accutrigger.

Weighs 3.5 pounds. Lebaron sells it for $312.72

Here's a link to the Savage arms sight:

The Cub is a short rifle, don't know what the LOP is, but it is WAAAAYYY too small for me. A guy could add a rubber recoil pad to lenghten it out an inch or so. Barrel is 16". Little rifle.

I handled it recently. I'm a fairly short guy, about 5'8", maybe a touch taller. To put it in perspective, I had the counter lady handle it after me (she stood about five-nothing), and we agreed no girl over four feet tall would ever enjoy handling that rifle.

Get her to shoulder a gun, and see how she tries to operate the bolt.
