Do you want speed shooting, do you want super slow bullets where you want most precsion, or mix of both?
PPC will teach you bit more than IPSC when it comes to accuracy. Its static shooting, but will shoot standing, kneeling, sitting, prone. From 3-50 meters. It's much more slower firing, at 50 meters, you might have 90 seconds to fire 12 rds. But might do some 3m snap shooting where you fire 2 rds in 3 seconds. You dont need much gear, 2 mags, and basic holster as it's more just to carry the gun. It's good for all skill as you shoot from the 45. You dont need a course to partake.
Silhouette is unique. Long barrelled revolvers are also used but so are, basically, mini-rifles

Ah, so "pistols" in the same way that the Ruger Charger is a "pistol", lol.
Also, someone needs to get those dudes a pillow. That looks awkward as hell.

WTF, people expect MOA at 200 (Like, 2" groups) from PISTOLS??
For real?
Dan , I’m not sure yet . I need to look at the different shooting disciplines and what would appeal to me . Maybe I can get an idea from the Forum .

Well, maybe go to a few different types of competitions, talk to people competing. Shooters are usually pretty friendly and outgoing when they are discussing their favorite shooting sports. - dan

On Saturday March 2nd there is an IDPA ( international defensive pistol association)match at Chilliwack Fish and Game and on Saturday March 16th another match at Mission Rod and Gun. You would be welcome to attend either event as a spectator, just bring eye and ear protection, you can come out and see how it all works. Great people who will definitely answer your questions, you are welcome to tag along with my squad anytime. If you are on FB have a look at CFGPA IDPA, there are some vids posted thereGood idea ! Thanks

Since I’m couch ridden for awhile and have time on my hands I have been wat bing a few firearm channels but I have a question or two.
You will here the individuals talk about the pistol or revolvers accuracy and how it’s bang on with out any modifications
What is considered an accurate pistol ? What type of groupings ? What yardage ? Also is this caliber dependent ?
I will read the replies and probably have more questions
Thanks

Sorry to hear you're couch ladden. I hope you're able to get to the range soon. I'm not a great shot with handguns but I'm happy with pinging 3" gongs at 7 yards. I don't know if it's sights, or grip, but I am way more accurate with revolvers than I am with auto pistols. Caliber doesn't seem to come into account, I'll shoot .22's with the same accuracy as I shoot .44 mag and everything in between.
I used to shoot at an indoor pistol range eons ago and it would go out to 25 yards, and for handgun shooting, that is waaaaay out there. These days I shoot handguns at 7 yards which is real world effective range with a handgun. That's not to say of course that a handgun isn't effective at 25, 50, or even over 100 yards, it's just to say I can't hit anything with regularity with a handgun at that distance.
To answer your question, handgun groups at 7 yards should probably 2moa, I'm personally not up to that standard. I can however shoot 3 or 4 moa at 7 yards all day at a relatively quick cadance. Many may laugh at that, and that's fine. Like I said, I don't consider myself a great marksman.
I have a S&w model 19 that I used for bullseye matches, with the right load and a hbwc off a rest it will put 10 shots in a 2” ragged hole @25yds.
that is great shooting in my books
I use to think that revolvers were always inherently more accurate than semi-auto's. I'm speaking about regular revolvers and semi-auto's, not super serious Olympic type pistols.
I always did well with my S&W 686 .357 Mag shooting 38 Special hand loads. Keeping 10 rounds usually in the 9, 10 and X ring at 20 yards, on a bad day, I'd drop a few in the 8 ring.
Them I got a CZ SP-O1 Shadow in 9mm and I consistently bettered my grouping from my S&W 685. It is just phenomenonly accurate with my hand loads, cast and plated bullets. Literally groups that are large ragged holes at 20 yards.
Reaching out to 50 or 100 yard gongs at the range I get pretty consistent hits with it as well.
I have other 9mm pistols, but they aren't in the same league as my CZ. Other than doing some dri-fire practice, my number one tip is to use weight training to keep your arms strong. Not body builder arms, but well toned. It makes a huge differnce, especially when you get to your third or fourth target.
