Pistol Caliber Carbine

WTF! I am pretty sure the idea here is to save money how is 10mm or .357 Sig gonna do that for me? Id rather be shooting .223 for the same price. Something like 9mm or .45 acp is the best idea as it is so much more common, and not gonna cost as much as center fire rifle ammo.

10mm factory ammo is practically unobtainium in Canada anyway, so even mentioning the caliber implies that you reload. I have to say, an MP5/10 would be pretty freaking awesome.

That is why I support 7.62x25 if you want a cheap to feed carbine that is still pretty snappy.

Out of longer barrel it would probably make a heck of a good short range varmint gun and well. I'm not sure if the 7.62x25 is inherently accurate or not though. Can you even get new manufacture commercial ammo?

Nothing like shooting expensive 10mm factory ammo from an expensive restricted firearm.
The only reason to shoot a pistol carbine would be to reduce cost, not compound it.

A .40 cal would be the best choice. As long as it takes pistol mags.
Then everyone who shoots idpa or ipsc has a common caliber to work with.

My hand loaded 10mm is cheaper than your factory .40 S&W. - Hell, it's cheaper than your factory 9mm.......

Really guys. Get with the program and get in line to buy the first 500S&W, a 7615 variant would be ideal, could base it on a 20 guage 870 platform. Flame suit on :)

Now thats an intimidating sight IMO

I always thought the Marlin Camp Carbines in 9mm and 45acp were nice. The old Ruger 44 mag autoloader also seemed a good bet. Since they don't seem to be available, I'm supposing sales weren't good. AR-15 in 9mm is attractive but pricey.

10mm Auto for sure...I lust after 10mm carbines.

Unlike a lot of pistol calibers, 10mm can really pick up a lot out of longer barrel.

9mm gets practically no boost from the extra burn time...same with .45

.40 S&W...I have no idea what it does, I have never seen the point in it. But I would guess the smallish case cap means you wouldn't make much extra punch with it.

But 10mm...ah 10mm...ever look at 10mm out of a 12" barrel, say? Or a 16? You can load it SMOKING hot and have a serious rifle round on your hands, similar to what a long barrel does to .357.

Frankly I don't see the point in pistol caliber carbines other than 10mm, or one of the rimmed and therefore pretty well lever-only revolver rounds.

I've never seen commercial for the x25, but even still I would still be in for the 7.62x25 in carbine form, plenty of surplus out there to feed the beasts and as you guys said a little more snappy than you standard pistol rounds.
