Pistol caliber carbines?

Shot at 20 yards from a rest.
This is my target results using a shotshell sized and rifled Dina Arms adapter for 38/357 in a 12 gauge.
I used Federal Eagle 158 gr LRN out of an Ithaca Deerslayer, so it has sights on it.

Could these be useful even with these marginal results?
Maybe at close range in a dense forest where the engagement distance was no more than 12-15 yards, that's it.

What would be a reasonable price to pay?

They're a $400 gun, basically.

I think they were originally retailing around $329, but started flying off the shelves, so prices jumped to $399 (still decent) and up to $500+ at some places, which is a major ripoff IMO. If people were making money at $329, how much profit are they making at $500+???

I have to share Brutus' opinion on these inserts.

Hunting small game with pistol calibers often requires more accuracy than big game (alibet at closer ranges), as you have to be able to consistently hit 2" or smaller targets, and ranges are often out to 30 yards or more. Groupings like Brutus was getting are useless for harvesting anything, unfortunately...

That's kind of what I felt after handling one of the .22 versions. I assume the fit/finish etc is about the same for the 9mm?

This is two five shot groups at 100 meters, from a Ruger 77/44 with 225 FTX over Lil' Gun... shot the top group, adjust the sights and then shot the group around the bullseye.

Everyone's own personal experiences can differ.

I guess you are a tad bit too immature to realize this thread is about sharing information with others, and not taking jabs at each other.

You are acting like a spoiled 11 year old kid that just lost possession of the TV remote control.

End.

oh no, you are, adolescents cut off communication ('end'...what kind of mature adult says that???)

i stated things plainly and simply demonstrated that your experience was only partial, you just judged everyone else without all the information and then became reactive (angry?) after being simply frustrated that your judgment was partial and therefore questioned...so who's the adolescent?

sorry to disagree with your all-knowing judgement and i'd say that from your reaction, i was right

hahahaha Laugh2 (and adolescents can't stand being laughed at either)

(you really aren't all that bright, are you?)

...i'd say you owe me an apology there, bru-tus :)

What the heck is your problem???

Hey sailor (my saying that just sounds wrong)...

Try checking out the Black Rifles forum for thoughts on a 9mm/.45 carbine. If money was no object you might want to build a HK UMP clone.

I've seen a cool video of a UMP clone in the USA. I'll post it ...if I can find the link.

My pistol cartridge carbines are single shot T/C Contender carbines ones a 14" barrel in 45 Colt another is an 18" 10mm barrel.

I used to have a couple of 77/44 rifles both were accurate but one kept having misfires sold both of them.

I also have a 20" barreled LSI Puma M92 lever action in 45 Colt/454 Casull holds 10 45 Colt holds 9 454 Casull.

My pistol caliber carbines are a Ruger 77/44, a Ruger semi in 44 mag and a TC Encore with a 15" barrel in 500 S&W mag. All of them accurate and handy, all 3 will be making the trip for deer this year.

PC carbines are too much fun for plinking and pasting vermin with out in the bush. For close in work on medium to large game they do the job fine.. so long as you match the load to the game and range.
I've had numerous Ruger .44 autos over the years and also a 77/44 along with a 9mm.Largo Spanish Destroyer that was a long-time favorite. Others include a Rossi 92 .454 magnum & H&R in .500 S&W which were big fun.

My current batch of PC carbines.
