Pistol carrying cases

Does anyone know if the black Glock cases that new Glocks come in can be locked?

I use a combo lock that fits over the handle that seems to work. The Master Lock Word Combination Padlock from Canadian Tire fits over the handle preventing it from opening. It's a little hard to spin the numbers/letters on the lock and not the most aesthetically pleasing but it does work. There may be other locks that would fit over the handle as well but that is one that I know works. That's the only way I know of locking the black Glock cases.

"...egg crate foam..." Any foam will do. So will any thickish fabric. Have fake sheepskin in mine.
"...Where would a guy go to look for..." Fabric shop. It's used for making pillows. A discount one is a bit better.
"...5 handguns fit in it..." 5 in my old briefcase too. A bit snug, but they fit.

Thanks, guess I'll be going to the fabric store next time I'm in town. It's got egg crate foam now but doesn't quite hold the guns in place nicely now so they usually slide around into each other, just wanted something a little stiffer and then cut compartments for each gun so they can only move so far and won't end up rubbing into each other. We'll see how it turns out, maybe I'll post some pictures if it looks good.

yes they will as others have said, though not likely the way your thinking they will.

also you can't use a normal trigger lock on the gun inside.

I use a pelican 1450 with two german keyed padlocks on it.

I keep my guns in individual gun rugs from Tactical Tailor http://www.tacticaltailor.com/gunrug.aspx

Very easy, as I just grab whichever one I am using and put it in the same hard case which has my ATT and registration certs for everything in it all the time.

But I am a bit OCD on keeping everything perfect and organized.....

Any foam will NOT do. Nor will thickish fabric. The gray ester foam is the only foam that you can use for handguns or metal objects unless you want them to rust. The white foam used for making furniture and pillows is no good for guns as it holds moisture and attracts it (like a diaper). That is its purpose.

You want proper USA or Canadian made 1.67 or 2lb convoluted (egg carton) foam for your guns. The Chinese stuff is no good and is only gray in colour but acts like the white, and it pulverizes extremely easy. If you want to use foam to cut out your guns shapes in, use 1.67 ester foam to cut the shapes and use plank foam on the bottom and top of the case. That way you will be extremely happy.

Yes, I build custom firearms cases.

Thanks for all the comments. Sometimes the minimum is all you need and all you want. But I like to tinker and be somewhat organized. So at some point I am going to get some sort of larger case that I can customize slightly to carry my pistols (still waiting on rpal paperwork so I can actually buy some), some ammo, paperwork including targets, licence, att, this, that and the other thing to.

Originally designed for photo/video equipments. Comes with a shoulder strap too.

12.6" x 18" x 6.5"

Has two built-in locking latches (key), dividers, and diced foam inserts for you to make your own cutouts. Fits 4 pistols with trigger locks + multiple mags comfortably, possibly 5 if you have smaller pistols.

I would not check this in at the airport, though. The locking latches are of okay quality (if someone REALLY wanted to break them, they probably can with some tools) , but for range use this is perfect and it looks nice too :)

Pelican Cases

I use a Pelican case, although with locks on it, it may be obvious that there is something "interesting" inside.

I have two of them (1550's) They are clearly excellent quality and backed by a great guarantee. However I agree that they scream "expensive stuff inside" which is why for routine trips to the range, I use a large brief case with combo locks. Mine takes three large handguns easily and has a pocket for my documentation. I also use a lockable tool box for my ammo and accessories. Thieves aren't stupid so it pays not to advertise. That said, the Pelican is what I would use for maximum protection. One of mine is fitted to hold four guns with my expensive lasers and such on a second level. I use DOT/TSA travel locks that don't have to be broken by customs if they want to examine the contents. I have them for all my cases all combo-ed the same for quick entry by yours truly.
