Frog Lube certainly doesn't promote rust.

Here Endeth the Lesson.

This question is as loaded as they come, OP, you will never get the same answer twice, no one is right, no one is wrong....... it's just whetever works for them. Some people clean after each use, some after so many rounds. I have my product and my routines and it works for me, Some folks love CLP's, some use off the shelf motor oils. Really all you can do is maybe familiarize yourself with a routine or products from someone YOU trust and do whatever feels right.

I've used hoppes9, G96 with great results but have stared using balistoil. If it's a good as it seems I'll be switching to it over the others, I like that it cleans fouling easily and is non toxic. If I get any on my skin I don't worry about it, you can mix it with water to neutralize corrosive salts as well. I'm a big fan of a product that does multiple tasks with great results, same with multiple guns that shoot the same ammo. Keeps it simple, does the job.

Use what else works for you, be it cleaning rod, brush & jags or bore snake. I like a brass rod but I picked up an Otis snake dealy that I need to give a try. Grease on the slides of my pistols, light oil on everything else.

What the the main difference between Ballistol and G96 ? Is Ballistol better at cleaning ?

Honestly the difference as far as I see it is one is environmentally friendly and bio degradable (balistoil) the other is not. They both clean really great, Though when you look at all the other things balistoil lubes and conditions it does more, it's skin, wood and leather friendly. Doesn't smell as nice as g96 but it was developed by the German army so I guess that says something.

I liked FIREClean for a while, but it does dry up and get gummy.

Froglube isn't perfect, but still works well for some things.

Right now, I am liking Lubriplate and Slip2000.
