Newbie question here: Is it legal to put a pistol grip on a 14" shotgun?

I'm looking into getting my first shotgum from Marstar, Norinco N870-14.00 (aka. 'HP9-1'), and I'd like to put a Hogue pistol grip on it.

You'd have to worry about this:

According to the Criminal Code, a restricted firearm is:

a handgun that is not a prohibited firearm;

a semi-automatic, centre-fire rifle or shotgun with a barrel length less than 470 mm (18.5 inches) that is not prohibited;

a rifle or shotgun that can fire when its overall length is reduced by folding, telescoping or some other means to less than 660 mm (26 inches);
any firearm prescribed as restricted (including some long guns).

give him a brake i use the word too lol not on a classic SXS but on a pump all the time.
ya if it is over 26" you are fine :D

a guy with over a 1000 posts that isn't a firearm owner, posting on a firearm owners board?

You're not the only one. What's the point of typing "shottie" for short form when "shotgun" is the same number of letters?

I also hate it when people say "za" for pizza and "zeen" for magazine (usually in reference to the kind you read).

This is, of course my problem, not everyone else's, so don't mind me if I quietly cringe and shudder.

He can say things however he wants. At least he said something relatively useful about the gun having to be over 26". You sir, haven't contributed a thing to this thread.
 
Hey amphib remember that why death junky has not owned a gun yet he has done this to A GRIZZLY .......................................................... i shot one with a .308 win one shot down it went.

but nice try though.

and BTW: a Norinco with a 14" barrel does not me legal lenth with a pistol grip or a folding stock.

A 14" shotgun (shottie for you baggy pants crowd ;)) with a pistol grip would not meet the required 26" minimum length.You would be approximately 2" short.

Bites hard! me'n da boyz was looking fo rinco 14 tube shotties. Man we love them shotties. Best shotties. Gonna have to get some dum ass red neck shotties guess. Sheeet. Remchester shotties. Bites hard mean.
 
I know I am hi-jacking here (and trying to help) but what about the Maverick 88 "shottie" with the pistol grip and 18" bbl.
I picked one up and worked the action at Whole sale and it seems to be a lot of "shottie" for the money.

yo look jack ass i know more about guns than some people can lern in a life time, it has been my life for 10 years, and for information this isnt a sight for gun owners its for the general firearm community from kids to adults not just people who think they rule the world because they have a gun big deal ill get mine in due time. so zip your pie hole . oh and buy the way i wasnt telling you to think diffrently i was just saying give him a break.

i was looking up at the the length of the shotty :D and for the pruds shot gun and it looks like with the 14" bbr and a pistal grip it is about 23" long sorry so just pic up the a 18.5" one and you will be good :D

Yes it's legal length

I have a pistol grip for my old Maverick, but after fooling around with it for awhile, I took it off and replaced the full stock.
