what is the reason for not being able to biring a .22 pistol into the wilderness. my dad and i just want to be able to take a .22 pistol into the bush and just do some plinking.

forget having a trusty sidearm in case of a bear or cougar attack. its pretty frustrating to learn all these 'no fly zones' when you're still new to the sport like i am.

Or become one of the identified professions. Trapper, bush pilot, prospector, bear baited or if you can convince them otherwise. Jump through enough hoops/ slash your way through red tape maybe, just maybe the CFO may grant you the coveted ATC

Really, I wonder what a CO or anyone would do? It's only a .22

Best not to mention undertaking illegal activities, especially involving firearms, on the forum.

I think it's actually a rule here. And I really don't think you want to test that scenario (in the woods) either...

* edit - yup...

The following topics will not be tolerated. Violation will result in immediate and permanent suspension. Some quasi legal/ grey/downright illegal examples that are specifically not tolerated are:

2) Discharging firearms in places where firearms are not allowed to be discharged.

I have to agree with the OP, it is a really stupid part of our firearms law...whether it be a rim-fire handgun or a center-fire...This is one of the laws that really pi** me off as well. If the concern about short guns is concealablility for criminal purposes in urban environments where that would usually occur how does that translate to how it would affect someone/thing in the bush...
As posted before me, there is no common sense in the Canadian gun laws...Kneejerk leftie thought.

I take this one with me all the time in the Woods. (100% Legal. 38 Spl.) Or my 2.5" 38 spl one

Get a grip boomer...no one is discussing illegal activities...
The OP was opining about the crazy laws and why we can't do certain things because of stupid laws...No one entertained breaking the law.

1) OP asks "why can't me & Dad biring a .22 pistol into the wilderness?"

2) OP says "Really, I wonder what a CO or anyone would do? It's only a .22"

That is blatantly discussing/suggesting "breaking the law".

Period... I suggest you "get a grip" on your reading skills, stop being so naive, & quit defending someone who's obviously breaking rules & wanting to break laws.
