My experience ordering and receiving was perfect. Ordered restricted, payed by money order/PAL number etc..., received the transfer notices from CFC and Dealer, recd. the tracking number from Dealer. Delivered and signed as expected. Took approx. one month wait for all. Boy was I excited for that parcel!

Do you really think it's a good idea to advertise there is a handgun in the box?? Think of how many hands that parcel passes through. On top of that, it's being delivered to your house. I'd prefer it if the postman was not kept up to date on how many guns I had in the house...

It's very simple - got a parcel - go get it, sign and whatnot; take it home.
Is it a gun? How would you know before opening the parcel? And if you open it before taking it home, then you'd better comply with FA transport regulations - trigger lock, case, and whatever for the restricted or non-restricted.
But guess what? If it is a restricted, and you open package at post office - you are in violation of... you are not allowed to handle restricted FA outside your residence or approved range where you can fire it...

Thrice CP left restricteds in my community mailbox "parcel" compartment.
Once they left a rifle outside my door. I guess that means that the mail carrier is not aware of the contents, or he just doesn't give a hoot.
Shipped out a rifle once and the CP clerk asked what was in the box. I thought "machine parts" was accurate enough. Normally they don't ask.

Actually yes they do. the STATT the seller gets to mail it covers it until it reaches your home and covers whoever is transporting it there. so it covers the canada post employee or your wife, kids, gramma whoever ends up bringing it to your home. also anyone can mail the package for the seller as well. once it's wrapped it stoped being a gun and becomes a package until the addressee opens it.
I had the same questions as you the 1st time i got a restricted in the mail and when i called the CFO that was the answer they gave me.
Yeah, I am having the same problem with my lazy assed mail carrier. I was expecting a rifle one Monday (I have a 3 day weekend), and I even left a note in the box saying that I was at home, and to please deliver it to my door. NOPE-the jerk just left the notice card. I've phoned and emailed in complaints, but nothing changes. I even came home one time last summer, and saw that the guy had left my SVT40 sitting on my doorstep!
I have gotten several handguns in the mail and I still get a kick out of it...........ofcourse the dealer did all paper work, I just had to sign for it at the postoffice..............
My post lady makes me sign at my door on one of those portable signing things. So no going to post office at all
I get my parcels at a post office in Sobey's at the mall, I think I was giggling walking through the supermarket, and out of the mall carrying my 22-250.
But like most everyone says "its mail until you open it" it is hard though not to open it when you have a 20min drive ahead of you.

I agree completely, which is why I find it weird that the airlines I've used have a policy of marking checked baggage for potentially dangerous items. It's almost an advertisement for the terrorist baggage folk, or those who might steal your bag at the departure luggage carousel before you get there.

Ya, CP left my 1911 colt 45 commemorative at the door in plain view from the street. I was shocked that when I came home from work that 1) it was there and 2) they left a restricted gun on the door step! Chalk one up for CP!
