Please explain the CZ in 5.56

I am honestly confused.
What in the world is all the hype about this rifle firing 5.56.

It's a far less effective round.

It's a far more expensive round.

I mean, the US is scrambling to come up with a larger, harder hitting bullet as it is.

Clinging to their band aid covered AR platform. Hell, they are practically redesigning the entire weapon while trying desperately to hang on to something that still looks like an AR just so they don't have to admit the platform sucks.

The 7.62 x 39 fired from a CZ is a great round for a great battle rifle.
Why nueter it?

Flatter shooting and better terminal ballistics when frag velocities are achieved with a given ammunition. Can carry more rounds, too.

I shoot a lot of both M43 and 5.56 and I prefer shooting 5.56, although the cost is making me reconsider.
 
its also another option to play with. handloading could get interesting with how well the 7.62 models shoot. These things will be a gophers nightmare. Theyre not my cup of tea over the non-res 7.62 but I do see why people are drawn to them.
 
..The 5.56 model will interest the AR crowd and those who reload and want to have another rifle in same caliber.....and to those who like to pimp them into an AR frankenstein/ magpul/ tactical lighted :puke: rig :p

ammo preference is personal i think, i love the 7.62x39 round, and would not buy a 5.56 gun, but for sure, it has its uses.

also thats CSA

CZ only makes 7.62x39 I believe.
 
Not to mention when the mag adaptor comes out you can use any M16 magazines, including 10rd LAR ones.

But for 1000+bucks I'll stick with my CZ VZ
 
Not to mention in Southern Ontario it's a legal calibre to hunt with, 7.62 is not. I'd buy one if I didn't have a mini 14.
 
10 round mags is probably the most important difference for me. I bought an M14 just for AIA magazines and .308 is not cheap. Maybe its just me but I would always pay a lot extra to have 10+ round magazines legally in a semi-auto.
 
5.56 is cheaper to reload than 7.62x39. The supply of cheap surplus 7.62x39 will dry up eventually.

The ability to use 10 round AR pistol magazines will be another mark in favour of the 5.56 version.
 
All of the above reasons, plus, I don't have to worry about rushing home doing 40 over the speed limit to clean my rifle so it doesn't corrode away to nothingness

I understand if you are a target shooter or a hunter.

As someone who trains and trains and trains with this rifle as a fighting platform I will always take the 762 x 39.

If you're a hunter why not just get a solid bolt gun like a Rem 700?

If you are a target shooter why not just get an AR?

I still think it feels like that weird panther AR that shoots 762x39.

I don't get it.

But I'm glad we are all talking.

PS- if you are worried about the surplus drying up. JUST BUY TONS. It's 190.00 for 1180 rounds. I bought a case every paycheque for ten months.
I'm good for a while.

FYI- there is a war on. And all the good guys use 5.56. That's why it's so much dough.

I think its pretty hilarious you only consider the battle effectiveness considering no one in canada will ever be in a fire fight with one!

As far as price is concerned it is all about corrosive vs. Non corrosive ammo! Cleaning is a must in southern Ontario or Coastal climates due to humidity and I hate worrying about corrosion!

Also when the mag adapters come out 10 rounds will be legal with the LAR mags!
 
It may not be to use as a battle rifle, but a serious interest in them. Otherwise we would only have single shot .22's. I love mine over the SKS simply because its a faster and more accurate platform. I enjoy high speed shooting under pressure for accuracy, even though I will never need to use it to defend myself. I cant imagine how haggard those 10 rd. ar mags are going to look sticking out of a red rifle...
