Please help find my grandfathers M-17 (P17) enfield!

Still no luck anywhere.

Still cant post on Huntingbc.ca I was a member for a few days but couldn't post a thing. Ended up sending the admin a pm telling him what I wanted to post and giving my information to verify myself through AO and CGN. Never heard back and after a week my profile was deleted!

EDIT: Created new huntingbc acount and was able to post today.

The Purists in the U.S. call it the M1917, the Bubbas call them Eddystones or Enfields. I checked mine wrong serial number just in case, you never know where these things can go.

i've turned up nothing so far , just ran into another one at franks super market here in quesnel serial number starting with 446 *** .

i'm wonderingf if it would help if you printed up some buisness cards with your name and the serial number of the rifle your looking for and pass them out at local gun shows ?

Thanks for looking anyway. If I'm ever out that way I'll buy you a beer or three!

Good idea with the cards I'll add the info to the back of my business cards before I hit up the next shows.

Possible area gunshops like Del Selin's in Vernon might have record of it going through their shop. Doubt anyone there would be willing to dig through old records though. In the meantime why not look for one in similar conditoion? Kamloops shop is coming up end of month. Who knows, you might get lucky and find it there.
Cheers

I have been keeping an eye out for something similar, no luck yet. I heard a few nice ones were at the Calgary gun show but I wasn't able to make it to the show. Funds are also tight right now with a wedding coming up, and a 45-70 that needs a new tang sight!

Bump

I've made some phone calls but had no luck, difficult to get guys to dig through paperwork when you dont even have an exact year to look under!

Hopefully some new people see this thread and look at their serial numbers.

Yes they are the same. Proper name is apparently m-17 but most here in Canada prefer to use p17

The U.S.A. designation is M1917 and some people will insist it's the only correct one, but rifles actually used in Canadian or British service are just as correctly called what Canadian or British called them i.e. P-17, consistent with the designation for the .303British version, P-14.

Try running it through the Quebec registry...you never know.

Maybe already tried but another option would be find the old LGR that was available for download. I cannot find it (it was quite a large file). That might tell you what province it was last registered in to help narrow it down.

Edit: OK so I found the old redacted LGR . There were no serial numbers listed from what I can tell.

Here is the link that stills seems to work for anyone interested.
