Hi everyone. I am trying to legalize Crossbow hunting here in my province of Newfoundland, Canada. We can already use a Bow to hunt Moose, Black Bear, and Caribou, so why not a Crossbow??? It is legal in other provinces of Canada, but not here. This makes no sense to me.

I have also started a Petition in hopes that we could get enough signatures to present it to the Government of Newfoundland. I would like to get at least
10 000 names on the petition. The more the better!!

You can view the Petition and sign it at:

Thanks in advance for all your support.

THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO START A DEBATE ON THIS WEB-SITE. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN CROSSBOWS, JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE, THANKS.

Why do you prescribe me what to do and what not to do on this web site? Are you the owner?

Crossbow is prohibited in Newfoundland? I would consider moving there. Crossbow is too weak to kill an animal, it only wounds, making the game suffer. It's inhuman hunting.

Can't hunt with them in NB or NS either I think I know theyare considering them for rifle season but not bow season yet.

Crossbows are very effective killing tools, the main reason they are banned in these provinces in the fear that they are a poachers weapon, however they are almost as loud as a .22 and it would be far easier to poach Moose and Deer with a .22 than a Crossbow.

They are legal here but what the hell am I going to shoot with one? a Coyote? a bunny? I'd rather use a bow for that.

Adding my name now.

If it is not already legal for people with disabilities, that could be another avenue to push for "equal opportunities for hunters with disabilities to enjoy the archery season"
