I had the identical experience with a spine shot that required me to get down out of my stand like Batman to race over and finish him. The beast looked right at me when I dispatched him, dam I sure as hell wouldn't want to film and display that all over u-tube. I was so pissed at myself for not getting a good first shot.
 
Nope. Wrong attitude. Don't hide them, show them proudly. BUT!! Don't laugh like a jackass as the wounded animal rolls down a cliff! Show some respect for the animal you've killed, and do it as quickly and cleanly as possible.
 
Death is seldom nice, it is seldom wanted and it often violent and bloody. To not show honest mistakes will not matter the antis, unless you can show a video of an animal magically falling apart into steaks, anything you post will upset them. There used to be a time where telling the story of the hunt was acceptable across the spectrum of people in this world. Now, holy ####, no way. I'd rather see botched hunts with a full explanation of what happened, laughter and all, then no videos. I'd also like to see good hunts that show the animal will still run for a bit with a good hit. And the videos that show a CNS hit where the animal just drops. People NEED to understand that just because the animal has been wounded, maybe even run, that it is still humane and ethically correct, otherwise all hunting will be banned and fishing too, and farming. And that's their end goal.

Thats hunting, some animals run off, some DRT, sometimes you pull a shot and need follow ups...thats all part of the sport/hunt. Every shot is not gonna be perfect, and every old time hunters Ive talked to have gut shot and lost wounded animals, it is unfortunate, but it is reality. I understand 'hunters' should not post Youtube vids glorifying bad hunts, but it is part of the sport. And it is normal to celebrate a successful hunt, cave men did it, natives do it, why can't whitey?? My views are somewhat hard line but I'm tired of being told in threads, MSM, social media, what is proper behaviour, political views, etc...I normally take a hard line opposing stance on these issues in spite...Anyway, happy hunting, fill the freezer folks and enjoy the bounty of the land.
 
As I stated in my original post we all know things don't always go as planned. Every hunter has a story to tell, including me where you have to ask yourself what just happen. That said everyone probably has more good stories then bad, hopefully. if you wish to post, post the good and keep the not so good between people who understand that it's not always going to be perfect.

I've never understood that hoot n holler etc aspect. Even my gal taking her first deer (and she was exited!) didn't feel the need to act like a fool. I mean, getting excited is understandable, but makes you wonder what some of these guys sounded like the first time they saw a bare pair of boobs if they get this riled up.
 
I'm gonna chime in and say the opposite. Post your videos and pictures. Show this country that hunting IS THE NORM. the more we seclude our selves the more the public will think we are a small group.
Be proud of your hunting and the animals you harvest. By not posting and talking about our way of life we are turning a blind eye to the problem of not being recognized as the large group of responsible firearm owners that we are.

What happened to the time we could freely walk with a rifle or shotgun slung over our shoulders? We started secluding our selves and the public got used to not seeing it any more. WE ARE HUNTERS AND SPORT SHOOTERS, STOP BEING ASHAMED TO SHOW IT AND TALK ABOUT IT.

it was looking straight at me.
one shot between the blinkers.....
I was like WTF where my deer go...well kid lets go make sure I never wounded it.
and there it was , droped like a rock ...straight down .

Time changed when nut bars started shooting up everybody and everthing.

Now we are all connected in real time so people are paranoid. That will not alter but only get worse with moronic hunting videos.
