Are you a surgeon? #### sakes I don't even get payed that much an hour!!!!

#### you and your stupid $85 an hour!!!

End rant

Lol,,,out to lunch,,,yeah, it's you,,,

Perhaps if you would have approached it reasonably with something like "Hey everyone, i was quoted $85/hr for gunsmith work, does that sound on par for the Edmonton area?" Instead of coming on here and whining and ranting. Hopefully that's not how you approach real life situations because being around you would get old real fast.

Yup it's all in the delivery and approach.
Agreed.

It really makes me want to go out and spend $10,000 plus for a used lathe and milling machine.....and put up a building....and get insurance.....and...and....to have somebody tell me I'm not worth $85.00 an hour....wow!!!
I think my phone number should be unlisted!!
Cheers

Usually repair what people like the OP thought they could do themselves. It usually costs twice as much after someone unqualified has had his u-tube trained hands into it, but it does make me more money. So to the op, try it yourself, what could go wrong?
Hahahahahahaha. There it is!

The irony here?.
That $85/hr gunsmith's take home $, 'tis more than likely somewhat less than our accomplished OP's net remumeration package.

And the both of em, being in receipt of more $ than my presently meagre stipend allows. :(

Oh well, so be it ... face miles of trials with smiles ...
Life is good, when all ya got rant on about is first world cost of toy problems. :runaway:

To the OP.
No body works for free! It costs a fortune between an education and the tools needed to do the job. I get paid for my knowledge not just my tools. Next time some one asks You to do Your job for free, and You laugh and say No! Think about Your little rant.

Ok gents

I appologize for the unnecessary rant, it was a bad mistake from me and there's no excuse. I offended a lot of people on this forum and would like to give my utmost appology.

If you still feel like you want justice, don't hesitate to pm me.

Sincerely

Throatpunch.

i wish i had a good smith that would work for $35 PER. i have had pistols and rifles built at a fair price by good tecs. even gunsmiths are entitled to earn a living wage or the next time you need them they will be closed up. being in the automotive industry i well understand the high charge out. hydro, rent or mortgage, holiday pay, ui, wcb all add up. if i could charge out at $50 per i would need to double my staff. then in a few months i could close the doors bankrupt.

Im not here to bad mouth our bros in different trades, I'm sure weapons tech is a good trade and being friends with a few helps me.
I've never paid $85 bucks an hour which strikes me as a high price.

$85hr doesn't really seem outrageous for anything these days. At least you are not in ANY other province where you would have to pay PST on it. Pay up, or screw it in yourself and hope for the best!
