Bah! We had a bull tag last week and hunted the crap out of an area only to find out that a poacher had shot a 3 year old bull about 2 km away from our area. Well within his area of wandering.

Dumbass went and shot the bull and then left him to rot in the field. I am soooo mad about this it is ridiculous. Its probably the first time I have been happy to see a CO doing their job.

I hope that the idiot gets caught, gets fined and gets his hunting rights taken away for the rest of his damn life.

I have to leave it right there otherwise I am just going to end up swearing.

Right on Bro I Fuc%in hate poachers I have seen beatiful animals left in the field to rot what a shame. Last year a local loser shot 3 ELK 1 NICE bull just opened up on them:mad: Nice thing is for him he is facing 10s of thousands in fines court costs and hopefully a criminal record which should screw his future travel plans.:) If you shoot an animal to feed YOUR family or to harvest a trophy good for you. To kill a majestic animal for the fun of pulling the trigger letting it rot and screwing the rest of us you deserve whatever Karma comes you way. sorry for the rant I feel better now:)
Pete......

I was out archery hunting north of Edmonton last week and a fellow was driving around the lease roads in a truck, we kept seeing him over and over again. Every once and a while we would hear shots. We finally put it all together when he shot at a doe down a cut line we were on....made for some exciting moments let me tell you being with two young kids.

I hate poachers as well. Pity we did not make the connect what the fellow was doing when we could have gotten his licence plate number....

Judging by what I've been seeing/hearing, poachers seem to be wreaking havoc.

I think there should be a season on poachers.

Leave those 4uckin a$$holes left in a field to rot!

No use for those lowlives!

Reminds me of some friends of mine in the military a while back who were shot at. Shot at with full auto AK's while hunting. All they heard was screams in Italian when the "deer" returned fire...

And I reciently heard one of them is a CO now! Fair but tough Man!

I'm not big on poachers, and would report if I saw it first hand. However if i knew that the person was having a hard time of it,and needed food I would go on as if I had seen nothing.

They all deserve to be turned in. We should all be clear that they have no friends with real hunters and won't have anyone covering for them. I haven't run into big game poachers, but I have reported (and filed statements) against people illegally keeping salmon. Just a handful of people with this mentality can do huge damage.

A few years ago we were hunting near lillooet and just checking out some logging roads when we found a small buck laying in the bushes near the road.
Whoever shot him cleaned him and put a stick to hold open the rib cage, so we figured they were going to come back and get him.

There were some tree fallers working nearby so we quickly left to return with the camera. When we got back the loggers were gone and so was the deer.
We were in the area for a few days but never saw them again.

Am I missing something? What is wrong with loggers shooting a buck deer in season?

Yeah, the area around here turns into a friggen zoo when rifle season opens. Just a steady stream of pickup trucks cruising around the backroads looking for something to shoot at. They have no regard for private property or the fact that someone may be hunting in the bush they are shooting into. I;ve had it happen to me, on one of the few occasions I got my wife to join me. She wasn't too thrilled with that experience. It seems like it's ingrained in the people around here, nobody see's a problem with shooting from their truck. I can't count the number of times I've been hunting, sitting silently for hours and just getting to the evening primetime when some douchebag in a truck comes tooling along the edge of the bush, windows open and guns at the ready. I've been meaning to get a video camera so I can tape these guys in that act. Seems like the only way to stop them is to report them.

even if he does get caught and gets his hunting rights taken away. it wont stop him from doing something illigal when he already did. if he still has the ability to obtain a rifle, wether by buying from a store or borrowing from a friend, there really isnt anything preventing him from going out and doing it again like he/she already did.

its unfortunet, but its like anything else in this country just because you are "banned" from doing something doesent mean you cant do it.

That's Nothing.. as the CO's put it (when they visited out camp) "This road alone keeps up busy all week, So far we've confiscated 12 moose, and it's only Wed.."

The idiot next door to us was running his deer hounds all week.. I even found a clump of deer hair where the dog got a hold of one (I know it was the morning, as the hair was not there the day before, and I heard the dog that morning)

Just a question here to the hunters in general. I've got nothing against hunting I used to hunt as well but quit when I ended up shooting more than I could eat or give away.

How do you feel about trophy hunters ?? i.e. people that shoot something just for the head with no intention of ever using any of the animal for any other purpose than for bragging rights!
Does this seem ok to you guys ??

Mike.
