Podolsk SVT-40 at leverarms

Mine arrived today from Lever Arms. The gun is soaked in cosmo and appears fine, however.......I was disappointed that the post office called me and said that they had a gun with a muzzle protruding from a box! I had to go pick it up at the depot because they wouldn't deliver it like that obviously. Anyways, the gun was packed in nothing more than loose newspaper in an oversized box so you can guess how easily it happened. No bubble wrap, no styrofoam, just rolled up newspaper. I really thought that coming from a dealer it would have been professionally wrapped to avoid damage. These things survived wars, and now they have to survive the post office! I hope that no one else gets their Podolsk in the mail like this. #notimpressed

Weren't they a sponsor before? Maybe this is why they are no longer one, too many customer complaints.

I called them and they straightened it out. VZ24 on the way!!

This is what I wanted too, a Czech VZ24. The Podolsk was just secondary.

Can anyone breakdown the markings on their Podolsk? Which marking is used to signify it's a refurb? Or any guide to the markings that someone may see...

In this case it's an absence of refurb markings, and presence of original finish on wood and metal. And original matching (not force-matched) numbers, minus magazine.

On my example it is a 1/2 inch square on the RH side of the stock with a 45 degree line from the top left to the bottom right. The same marking (albeit smaller, 3/32nd square) is on the receiver on the LH side of the Podolsk arrow. These are Soviet arsenal refurb stamps.

As for the myriad of other stamps, Horilka is the expert to ask.

Any pics of the Refurb SVT-40 Podolsk rifles yet?

6/12 port brake
2 piece front sling swivel
Narrow trigger guard
Hole in Safety
Grooved rear site ladder
7 hole upper hand guard (early style should be 8 hole)

Two noticeable wood repairs. I dont mind that, as I feel it is part of the history. Besides, I have others without repairs...

I tweeted Canada Post and they said it would be "Out for Delivery" on either the 21st or 22nd... Well I didn't get it today so hopefully they weren't pulling my chain and its out for Delivery tomorrow the 22nd. Because it still says its in Richmond BC. lol
