-7mm Imperial magnum, loaded hot with a high B.C., low drag bullet?
Can't be done as required, 257 Roy with a 100 grainer would be close at 400, but not 500.
I own one,and it won't quite do that.In fact none of the RUM cartridges,Lazzeroni cartridges or Weatherby cartridges shoot that flat.
I'll chime in and say its impossible given our current technology. I just ran the numbers for a .338 Lapua and a .50 BMG, and the .338/300 gr Sierra was 17" low at 500 and the .50/647 gr Barnes was 20" low. Hey, what about the .408 CheyTac? Well, with the 419 gr bullet the .408 was 11" low at 500.
Something like a 257 STW, 257WSM will probably shoot a 100 grain bullet this fast as well.
