Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg all use the G22. It has a high cap mag. They use Speer Gold Dots I'm told. Whenever I hear of them shooting people here, it really kills them.

bullets have a funny habit of being able to do that. what a strange world we live in........

What are these high cap mags you speak of? Are they something different than normal capacity magazines? Or are they something like out neutered 10 rd mags?

Are you asking me or telling me?

As opposed to a bullet designed to injure them?

Isn't that the purpose? I sure wouldn't use a bullet that was designed to injure....

What does the OPP carry for a pistol, rifles, shotguns etc ?
the Opp carry the following
P229 in 40
TRU carry the BHP in 9mm, just recieved new ones in the last year of so, i doubt they will change. Also MP5's, being phased out, C8's
Mini 14's at the offices
Rem 870 in the offices
ERT carry P229's, use 870's and mini 14's, they are supposed to be getting Demaco C8's, but I've heard this for 2 years.
Very limited use is the HK P7 M8, used by VIP squad some years ago, but I haven't seen one in about 10 yrs.
I also understand a single stack Sig, possibly a 239 in 40, for small handed females and males, but I haven't seen one yet.

RCMP ERT use S&W 9MM. Only difference is their guns are black as opposed to stainless. Also carry MP - 5, 12 gauge Shotgun and AR in .223.

Take Care

Yeah I didn't word my sentence properly. I meatn a hollowpoint like a gold dot will tear you up more than a FMJ ect.

I was just thinking. Taliban ect can us hollowpoints in there guns if they want, can the army do that? I heard they can't.

"hi-cap" is a shortend version of saying "high capacity". S&W, beretta, glock.... they all have a 15 or larger clip. Laws in canada limit us from having these. Used to be able to have um.. but not anymore.

Those sound an awful lot like normal capacity magazines. It's our 10rd ones that are the abberation.

counter-terrorist activities allow armed forces to use hollow points IIRC

I was just thinking that some HP 7.62x39 would really hurt or kill you faster than a FMJ one.

thats the point of HP's... damage and dont go through you. FMJ's can pass through you. HP's generally wont over-penetrate.
I found a report from the states where they tested all types of ammunition and spoke of the reasons or applications. Penetration and stopping power were the major reasons for the study. Over penetration and inadequate stopping power were associated to the FMJ. You have a much better chance of survival if hit with a FMJ.( depending on where you were hit too.. obviously)
