Polishing a 686

Now that's more like it! I'll have to pick up blue magic, long time mothers user here and was skeptical about that stuff the last time I was in canadian tire.

I've tried both, concluding that Blue Magic works better

Are they easier to clean when polished? Seems like they would be. If my Ruger GP100 was stainless I would have to polish it up, I think they look great.

The previous owner of my 686-3 polished it very well. I have continued with Mothers Mag & Aluminum with several 1hr sessions.
After several hours in front of the TV my 686 is a mirror finish. There are no swirl marks, and the cylinder looks the same as the frame/barrel. I love it. It is easy to clean. If you choose to polish yours you should NOT touch the top strap or you'll get unwanted reflections.

Yves, easier to clean, however , finger print are also more present

I polish all of my stainless revolvers. They are easier to clean and handsome to look at. I polish my bead-blasted finishes as well, ie: S&W 627-5

Why not if they are keepers? It's not as bad as a stippling job gone wrong - which I have never attempted.
