The Browning system works, but can be a real POA to hook up sometimes., and slower than most systeems.

A few years back, a boss of mine asked if I couldd take him to the range, as he was not a memebbeer, but wanted to zero his rifle .

When we got there, he took his M70 out of the case, flipped it upside down, and dumped three or four rounds in,
slammed the floorplate shut and he was loaded!!
I must confess, I had never seen a hinged ploor plate used like that before!
I do not knnow if it works on all rifles, but it sure was fast, and he didn't need to take the time to push them in from the top!:dancingbanana:

I've never tried it, because the only magazine rifle I own is an SMLE, which was not actually designed to reemove the magazine for loading!

I agree with Gatehouse. I like hinged floorplates better for boltguns.
Even better than a detach magazine or a regular internal box is one that has a stripper clip guide. Faster than loading a detachable box mag, but with less jamming problems (depends of course on what kind of rifle you have).

I'd go with a Detachable magazine. :)

Only way I could see Ross Seyfied having that veiw is if his experiance with detachable magazines are only from using Lee-Enfields. Whats so hard to click the release on a rifle then use your right hand to grab a magazine from your right pocket and guide it to the magazine well and slap it in. :) Seems easyer to me then loading single rounds into the top of the rifle.

As for stripper clips they are good unless you have a scope on your rifle and you can't use them. Or if you cant find old surplus stripper clips ;)
