Poll: knife carrying

I always have a pocket knife with me, everywhere I go. It's used more than you might think. Have a few on rotation. Then carry fixed knives for hunting, hiking or camping but still have a folder in my pocket.

Nonono. Never carry a knife. There's always one nearby when I need it. I see those people that like to advertise that they're into guns with the Browning stickers all over their truck rockin' the camo jacket at Safeway, and a knife on the belt I just shake my head inside knowing that whatever it is, I don't lack it.

Face it people some of you carry knives because you're not allowed to carry guns!

Other than camping, in the bush or at work (in which case I always have a knife available) I cannot remember the last time I've found myself in a situation where I've needed one.

Weird post.

I have a folding benchmade 945 that takes up almost no room in my pocket...I carry it because it's a useful tool, it gets used almost daily. At least one or twice a week I end up pulling it out for others need a knife and don't have one handy. Most recently: today the cashier at canadian tire couldn't get at the UPC code on the packaging, rather than go and get a knife off customer care, mine was right there and handy.

I see those saying there is no NEED, and they are correct, I get by fine without it....but I get a long better with it!

Lets make it simple

1. Do you carry a knife with you on a regular basis?
2. If so, Why? And if not, Why?

It seems like a common thing among cgn.

1 - Yes, only without when flying or in government buildings.
2 - Why not? Bought 1st pocket knife in grade 3, too handy tool to be without.

This.

Can't at work though. Only "safety" knives on site.

Lol my old jobs safety guy would have #### himself if he saw me using my pocket knife for anything on the clock. We had to throw away all of our olfa non-retracting knives and go to a spring loaded one where you have to hold it open to cut, And then let go while cutting.. except that you don't let go of the tab and the blade still sticks out, and your even more awkwardly cutting things. I've actually came closer to cutting myself with the stupid safety knife than using my pocket knife.

Yes, always, every day! The odd time I toss my pants in the laundry basket and forget to swap it over I'm conscious of it all day.

I carry a spyderco dragonfly most days, but I also have a Benchmade mini barrage that comes along from time to time.

As for why; Being a loyal Canadian, self defense never crosses my mind, as we are better off letting the criminals abuse us like the sheep we are. However, I find I use it at least 4 or 5 times a week for an endless range of tasks. If you carry one on a regular basis and it's readily available (pocket clip) you will be amazed at how often you find use for it.

That's for sure. I've driven back quite a ways to the house because I forgot it

from my cold dead fingers

I have carried a knife every day since I was 4 (when my Dad gave me my first pocket knife), with the exception of air travel. I am a bit of a knife nut actually but right now I carry a Benchmade Bugout. Why? Because it is useful, I use it 100 times a day, my wife borrows it, friends ask you to cut stuff for them, and I think every guy should have one.

I always carry a knife. I use it pretty regularly at work or the odd time when I'm out 'n about. Either to cut zip-ties, open boxes strapping etc. I think I've lost about 3 in the last 6yrs so I only carry cheap $25 Leatherman ones which hold up pretty well and I won't lose sleep if I lost it. I carry it even on vacations. Had to use it to pop open some beer caps last month on a beach. :p

Always have a small folding knife in my jacket pocket, cheapo US Walmart one in my lunchbag for those times at work when something needs to be cut open and one(Buck 110) in the glove box or console of the car. They don't get used every day but come in handy now and then.

Everyday since grade 1, well over 50 yrs. WHY? Very handy for just about anything everyday, cutting packages, used as screw driver, wedge, remove stickies, cut apples, pears. Remove slivers, cut nails, and on and on.......
