Ported barrels?

Only in so much as you sometimes hear the odd one complaining about it and as I eluded to earlier, tell them to put their ear plugs in. Personally I don’t notice any noise difference either from behind the trigger or on the next station parallel to a ported gun but I wear electronic ear muffs that cut out loud sounds very well.

It’s almost like some haven’t ever really shot beside them.

I read it on the internet so it must be true.

Well that’s this year. No camouflage tho lol.

Sometimes they even let the women shoot. Mixed teams now I hear send less athletes that way.

Anyone have a Natterss story?

a) Ported barrels are permitted, ...

Nobody is saying they aren't permitted. It just isn't pleasant shooting on a squad with one. It kind of looks like those who support them above are shooters who own them - and don't want to accept they may be annoying to others. Then again, most guys are nice enough to just suck it up. Don't imagine I'd even bring it up unless someone asked.

Read post 18
I own just two guns with porting out of many
I say you have never shot with guys with cutts on their guns years ago which is where the porting really started and you want to hear something
I don't care what someone uses since my ears are worth something to me and I use proper hearing protection so don't hear them
Guys with their foam plugs they steal from work annoy me. Buy proper protection problem solved
Cheers

I use foam ear plugs, because I find muffs to be a distraction when they touch the stock on my shotgun. I have tried a few different types of muffs, and I always go back to ear plugs . And I don't steal ear plugs from work, I buy them. As for protection, the noise reduction is very similar whether you use muffs or plugs, the plugs that I use have a rating of NRR32, which is higher than many muffs.

Shot a lot of bunker rob?

Is it extra annoying and distracting trying to score for someone shooting sporting clays lol?

To each their own
Here most take them from work and they are not a good quality
I am an electronic muff guy. When I use plug styles which is rare for me they are Ear Pro By Surefire 4 Sonic Defender Ear Plugs. They are around a 24?? rating I think
Cheers

Silly putty works very well.

Foam plugs have a very high DB rating and can be extra stylish with cowboy hat.

Yep ported guns do make a bit more a crack than one without. Suck it up gents, wear whatever hearing protection suits you best, as it's all part of the game. Those who say it disturbs their train of thought along with some fella in the squad talking while your shooting need to work on their mental game big time. You can be one of the best shooters around but if the crack of a ported barrel or a fella talking throws you off you might as quit this sport and take up knitting.
Many times at shoots when we knew certain things bugged certain shooters, like slowing the flow of the shooting rhythm, clearing your throat and sneezing as the fella went to shoot etc. we did it, and many times it worked, and worked beautifully.
When you step on station you should be in your own little world and zone, your concentrating on the task of breaking the target. A brass band, could be playing behind you and thunder storm passing over head but your focused and concentrating on the breaking the target period.

So when many on here whine about Joe talking while their trying to shoot or Ralph's ported barrel is to loud and it disturbs them, your simply telling many of us that have been around a long time that you have a lot to learn, and that's okay as we had to learn it as well.

I find mine no harder to clean. Heck half the time after shooting Winchester factory loads you don't even need to clean, I still do be I like touching my guns more than one person would like to admit

I have had many ported Brownings. For the most part the bore did not need cleaning or very little, but I did find that the ports did need quite a bit of attention to remove plastic and powder residue.

No pump guns! What loonasy is this.

There are other factors for "loudness". I have had people shoot my 26" barrel pump gun beside my 32" ported barrel target gun and the non-ported 26" barrel was louder using the same ammo. I'd rather it wasn't ported but it didn't stop me from buying it...

Got shotguns with ported and unported barrels and quite honestly don’t really notice any difference , but in all honesty am at best an average shot. As regards increased muzzle blast, have never had any comments from other squad members. Most are older guys with hearing loss anyway.!!!! For the average shot, “you pay your money, you make your choice”.

For me take a factory gun off a rack ported no difference
Take your gun and send it to a smith with the ammo you always use and have it ported. Big difference
Cheers

I did that once, no difference, never again!

Barrel porting was all the rage a number of years ago but the trend seems to be dying out and Browning seems to one of the few manufacturers that still promotes it. I absolutely hate shooting next to a ported gun on the trap line or five stand where you line up next to each other. The shooter doesn't notice the noise but the people next to them sure do!
