Hello all...I just picked this up in a trade..Portugese mauser 1904 as best I can tell,..but I know swf about mausers...So..where can I source a sling and bayonet for her ?..I'm guessing repro as orginals will be tough to find ?..She also needs a cocking piece for the bolt..where might I find that ?..A nice rifle overall with a clean bore..so she deserves some tlc...cheers. .R..

I bought my cocking piece from springfield sporters back in the day but I dont know if they are shipping to Canada again. A few have been parted out up here so you may be able to find one local.

BTW..the stock is very nice but looks dry..what would be correct to apply to the wood ?...

I would give it a good rub with some "Birchwood Casey gunoil" or an equivalent. They make one that is designed to be rubbed on stocks. It cleans the stock and lubricates it restoring the "wood" feeling. I use it on a lot of mine, it does the trick.

Do you have pics of yours?

Not the best. But I'll spot you these till you take some more.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Whatever you do, be 100% sure you know what you are doing when you take the bolt apart and put it together. Guess how I know to be careful.

Google the Vergueiro bolt and dis assembly. They have a very easy to understand explanation of how to take them apart and put them back together.

The bolts were difficult enough to take down and put back together that the troops were not allowed to take them down in the field.
