possible heads up for sks owners

I was in the Calgary Wholesale Sports today and watched a guy buy a nice Russian refurb for $219...there were several more on the rack behind the counter. I don't think this would be the case if the CFO had anything to do with whatever the situation started out being.
 
I was at my local CT store today and the lady at the gun counter told me they had 25 sks's in the back and they were told they can't sell them and can't send them back. I got the impression that they wouldn't be selling them again in the future which is too bad considering they were going for $180.
 
Lady at the gun counter in our CT said they were told to pull them because someone "hadn't cleaned the gun and had a problem". Her understanding was they would be going back out once they got disclaimer wording and signage re need to clean before use.

Which doesn't mean anything, do you think Canadian Tire is going to tell you that they don't instruct people to clean the firearms prior to use? and that if you don't properly clean the SKS before use you can experience malfunctions?

My 0.02 is that some yahoo got their PAL and went to CT and grabbed an SKS because it's cheap, and went out to shoot it without a cleaning and had a slam fire, someone saw this and either didn't understand or care and reported it.

At least he made an attempt to get a formal response on the matter and then shared it with all us.
All you've done is reiterate the obvious and be critical and condecending.
Of course they are going to be vague. That's what corps do in the midst of a controversial stop sale.
We're all in this together, wondering and waiting.
 
It is already widely known that Canadian Tire put a stop sale on their SKSs because of a slam fire on a SKS at an Ontario Gun Range ; and that SKS was purchased from Canadian Tire , but was never cleaned by the purchaser before use . The purchaser chose to go whining to anyone that would listen , rather than simply cleaning the firing pin like we all do......whether CT chooses to sell SKSs again is totally up to their Corporate Offices......
 
Original thread is from 2014 guys... when they FIRST pulled them off the shelves after some idiot in Ontario got one with a defective trigger group (bad part) and turned it in to the authorities, thinking he had bought an actual FA SKS (which never even existed in the history of these rifles).

Then the whole "OMG, think of the children!!!" song and dance started and the guns were pulled off the shelves. The horsemen's gun lab issued a warning statement to all owners and letters describing this 1 in a million "malfunction" were sent out to them, despite the fact that the registry was supposedly "deleted" in 2012. Because nothing in this country is worse than 5 rounds of FA fire hitting a paper target at a firing range... safety first!
