Well... after a very opportune post by Satain over in the "PMAGs - where to buy?" thread...

K I am going to let the cat out of the bag!
:pirate:
Just please guy's leave some for me!
gmstactical.com/main.html

I just spent about 1/2 an hour on the phone with Liman, the owner of GMS Tactical in Arizona, and as it happens, most of his family is Canadian...!

While his site does say that they'll ship high cap mags to Canada... it shouldn't... or in other words, it's a mistake... but... after talking with him for a little while he said a couple of very cool things... which I'll share with you here with his permission...

1. "This is the second call in a week that we've gotten from Canada"
2. "We feel for the plight of our Canadian brothers"
3. "We're very interested in figuring out how to make this work [PMAGS to Canada]"
4. "We do a lot of gunsmithing, so pinning the mags to 5 rounds would be pretty easy for us"
5. "We're in the process of making inquiries about this right now"
6. "We ship other items to Canada and if in the meantime there are other items that you guys want and can't get up there (holsters, accessories etc.) please just let us know"

He was very supportive and sounds like a really nice guy...! I left him with my e-mail address and he said he would get back to me just as soon as he had some answers.

So, it could all mean nothing in the final analysis, but if nothing else it's nice to know that some of the guys down south know we're up here... :)

You can bet that if he gets back to me I'll let you all know...

Cool...!

5.5 rounds is a good call...!

And I can't really take credit for anything more than picking up the phone... it was Satain that posted the link to GMS originally to show what the US retail price is on PMAGS, and then Wildbore noticed that GMS listed Canada...

And you can bet that as soon as I hear anything it will be posted here ASAFP.

Dave.

Doesn't that make sense, charge on last years sales, so if things tank, your screwed... or if you have a large year, you get screwed.

Welcome to the new America!! What a pita.

I don't know what they charge new exsporters, but existing ones pay 3% of the value of the previous years exports. It used to be $1200ish, before the 3%.

Well, if he's willing to export highly desirable items to us and we're desperate enough, I'm sure a few of us could pool the necessary funds if he's unwilling or unable.

1200$ isn't much to guarantee ourselves a steady supplier of items no one else is bringing in.

Was that too obvious a statement or did I have another brilliant moment? :D

I'd take part in a group buy.....It's a damn good idea. I have a feeling that 2000 Pmags could be divided up quite easily.....at least 2000 mags:cheers:

I am quite sure there will be lots available soon from various importers. Magpul is expanding fast and will have could up soon. As for price, you will likely still be cheaper direct from the US.

Thats another good idea. and if the bill was not too heavy, I'd donate to his export permits as well. :)

Pmags are not new, current importers have had lots of time to get product arranged. I'm all for the independent route.
