Thompsons look much nicer and less clumsy without the Cutts compensator on the end.

Archerynut, I agree with you. I like the look of the original gun without the compensator best, but to each their own. One of my 1928's had a somewhat wobbly compensator so I replaced it with an after market front sight which gives it that nice 1921 look.

Myenfield, the British ordered 1928's had the British broad arrow and inspector proof marks on the receivers. I believe, the first Thompson guns that came to Canada where simply picked from this batch. I have never seen these with any "Canadian" markings but that doesn't mean there were none. I have seen pictures of a M1 butt stock with a Canadian C broad arrow stamped in the wood. I don't know if the C broad arrow was ever stamped on the receivers.

Back in the day, I used to visit a dealer who was importing Thompson M1A1s from Interarms Alexandria. They were brand new, never issued. I saw the paperwork. His cost was $85, he retailed them for $135. Same price for MP44s.

We imported some 21's, 28's, m1's and m1a1's. The military guns were mostly mint as they were transfered to the State Police. One
of the m1a1's barrel is 5 inch instead of 10 inch. It was used as an "entry gun" by the Police.

The 28 has a nice, slower rate of fire than the later, non-Blish models.

Assuming the stock and fore-grip are original parts, you can tell if your Thompson M1928 or M1 ever passed through a British/Commonwealth arsenal if the sling attachments have been modified to this configuration:

The original unmodified sling attachments:

The modified sling attachments are unique to Commonwealth arsenals, but plenty of photos show that Commonwealth soldiers used Thompsons with unmodified sling attachments as well.
