Post your Mountain Rifle

I have only shot factory ammo in it, 139 sst superformance ammo, just under 1 " at 100 and 3" at 325. Decent so far. I have 10 different loads to try that I handloaded too, hopefully get it to .75 or under. The barrel didn't react to heat as quickly as I thought it would either.... Tried a ten shot group in under 1 min, stayed under 2" at 100, so I am happy with it.

Browning A Bolt Mountain Ti in 270 WSM. The rifle was 5 lbs 6 oz out of the box, Browning claims 5 lbs 5 oz. I mounted a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 using Browning steel bases and rings made by Talley. I use a Browning Crazy Horse Santa Fe sling. With the scope, bases, rings, sling, mag and loaded it weighs 8 lbs 2 oz. Its the lightest rifle that I own.

A German mountain stalking rifle, 30-06. However will only be utilized for the flatland bush. Weighs 9 lbs, 4 oz., sans les cartouches.

Rifles Inca 300 WinMag. I've been very pleased with the accuracy from this rifle. Scope is a Swarovski 4-12x50 with the BR Rec.

I also have a 300wsm Browning Ti that is probably my most used mountain rifle. It fits me personally very well, and its always hard to leave it home. Nice to see so many people posting so many nice mountain rifles.

there is a story behing the claws that i want to know ...

Some one asked the length of the barrel on the 300 WinMag Rifles Inc- it is 23 inches.

Those claws are from a very large brown bear from Alaska that I shot in 2010.

I call it budget mountain. Model 70 featherweight in 270. Found original winlite stock for 75$ and touched it up. Right at 7lbs loaded even with that heavy Model 70 action ;)

Lots of talk about mountain rifles lately so let's bump this awesome thread!

I recently bought this as a reasonably priced, reasonably light all weather mountain rifle. Going scouting to a new sheep area for three days this Friday. Looking forward to August 25th.

I was pretty smitten with the mountain ascent, I think I'll pick one up again. I do need to find a way to fit good irons to it, hunt irons only and would like to get some good adjustable sights on one.

Did you ever find some sights that work for you??I too enjoy hunting with iron sights…...

My fave so far!! I'm a bit biased to the layout, steyr model M mannlicher 9.3x62 is similar in proportion
