Powder available anywhere?

Hi,

I just recently got a muzzle loader (flintlock) from Le Baron and was told in the store that they were out of accessories as the muzzle loader season is in the fall.

I'm going to be checking out a local gun club/store this weekend, was told they might have stuff in stock.

I had ordered from Cabela's, but their website hates me...it said everything was in-stock and then the receipt e-mail (after they charged me) said everything was back ordered :(

But the point of this thread, is there anywhere online that sells powder (FFFg and FFg)? Also looking for general loading materials and accessories (round balls, patches, powder measures, etc.)

Unless you're ordering larger quantities of BP your better off to try and find it locally.There's a $20-$25 hazmat fee applied to all shipped orders of black powder in USA/CAN which generally negates any savings unless you are buying it by the case.The hazmat fee is the same for 100lbs as it is for one lb.You'll probly need to order at least 20lbs. to realise any savings after hazmat and shipping fees?
 
Drive down to Watertown New York and buy what you need. I buy at a shop near there all the time. You can export all you want from the USA and can import 8 Kg's per trip in one pound containers to Canada. Good luck. Goex there, the last I bought was $12.95 per pound while Swiss was $18.95. Dave
 
Try "Gunmart" in downtown Tincap (near Brockville) if you don't want to pay shipping...I've gotten Goex 2F, 3F and 4F there before....call 1st though. ;)
 
Apparently my order with Cabela's did go through, and was shipped out earlier this week...they were having some issues with their website that made it think everything was back ordered.

Still, that's only one can of 3Fg and a bunch of accessories.

Thanks to some local CGN users, I'll be picking up some powder in the near future. This Sunday going to the local Stittsville range to see if they have anything in stock too. I think I should be all set until the next muzzle-loading season! (unless I get trigger happy, I also picked up a flintlock pistol) :)
 
I guess there is one advantage to living near a big city. I just bought my first BP rifle and here in the sticks, I managed to scrounge up one can of Goex FFG, some caps and precious little else. All my stuff has to be mail ordered.
 
Turns out the local gun range was loaded up with black powder and accessories. I got a pound of each Goex FFg and FFFg. Bought nearly $250 worth of accessories. Looks like I'll be going back there this weekend to test out my new rifle...and maybe buying more powder :)

EDIT:

Got the Cabela's order in just now, the Hazardous shipping fee was only $5, not $20 or $25. Looks like I have nearly two of everything now as well!

WOW...that's cheap!:eek:I honestly didn't think that anybody charged less than $20 which is why I never order powder shipped and buy local instead?Maybe it's the sheer volume that Cabelas sells that allows them to offer cheap hazmat to stay competive?:confused:
